All things considered, the offensive line is pretty good. Fields has plenty of time to throw back there for the most part and there are running lanes. The offensive game plan also seems pretty decent. Everything else sucks though but that’s pretty cool.
Do we REALLY have an OL or was it a mirage?? Seems to me they can't pass block worth a damn. Not sure who our OLC is but he sucks as bad as our last OLC.
I mean, he had enough time to “Justin Fields Special” holding the ball for way too long at times. He improved a bit as the game progressed, though, I think. If the Jets had a good QB they’d probably be 3-1 in spite of being completely undisciplined and incapable of ball security on the parts of the field where losing it does the most damage.
Agree. The OL was overmatched in the 1st half when Miami rushed 5. Fields did not have much time IMO. He had to tuck it and run a lot. OL looked good on running plays though. The problem is, as always, once you fall behind, running doesn't help you much.
They were doing a nice job picking up pressure too especially late. It's true. Half decent QB play and fewer penalties and brutal fumbles and this would be a solid offense... Buuuttt that's asking a lot
Watching Glenn on Sports Center and he’s disappointed Well said..and that’s the story of every Jets fan since 1969
I guess it's a bit of both, but I don't know if I can kill the OL because it is young and inexperienced so there's that. Miami did a great job of disguising the D. On each pass play it was a different guy breaking through.
Yeah ..rofl multi millionaire players who play like they are in High School Ask your friend our President Woody >>>>Fire the Team and get AG weekly therapy
We've had shit OL coaching for several years running and its time for that shit to end. Glenn needs to pull Tanner and his OLC into a small room and unload on them. Same goes for Wilks and I really couldn't GAF if he's the only guy with any HC experience. His schemes suck and it may be more scheme than a lack of talent which is obvious.
I don't think Fields was bad today. I really want to look at all 22, but whenever we were able to pick up the blitz, he was pretty good. Was completely robbed of a TD pass and 4 points too. Plus led the drive where we should have kicked the FG, and another one where Allen fumbled on the goal line. The biggest issue I saw is that we could not pick up the blitz again until late, terrible TO by Allen that cost us 7 points, and moronic call by AG on 4th and 5 instead of a FG.
I dunno what you guys were watching and I don’t mean it disrespectfully. The offensive line was really good tonight. The QB holds onto the ball forever. Rushers are eventually going to get there but they’re not getting there quick enough to say the line isn’t playing well.
This: I thought the OL gave Fields plenty of time to make throws. The problem is he can’t read the field. Of course another big problem is we have one receiver and a rookie TE and that’s it. But Fields being a bad thrower is affecting playcalling which is a waste of a good OL. That’s more my point.
and its the coaches' job to minimize those mistakes. The over pursuits, missed assignments and blocking miscues all fall on the CS to fix. Time to take the diapers off Fields too. Either he can play or Tyrod comes in. No more fckn around watching wobblers behind GW and Taylor.
As you well said everything else sucked. Execution of the offensive play calls mostly ineffective, JF can not make a decision fast enough. Penalties and fumbles a mayor embarrassment. Fair catching a punt at the one yard line an absolute joke. Defense against the pass is beyond bad. This team talent base and football savvy is a shadow of what was advertised. CS in the hot seat for the shameless lack of discipline and the continuing slow starts due to self inflicted wounds. Ref one sided penalty calling adds insult to injury. Another long go nowhere season.
Oh come on He can’t see the field and he can’t throw accurately…shit the coaches wouldn’t even let him throw early in the game. He is a great scrambler, that’s it. He is slow to process. He’ll make a nice throw here and there, like the 2 TD’s to GW (that PI call on GW was total bullshit), but for the most part, he can’t read the field and make the right throws…he has his completion rate decent but it’s all check downs. He is not a QB1…he is a decent backup if your QB1 is a mobile guy but he is not going to be a winning QB. His rating ended well today but most of it was in the late game when it was all out of hand, and yeah I know the score was a one score game but watching it for sure it did not feel nearly that close.
It’s a nice gig to make mistakes and still get paid uber bucks..most people get fired for that Glenn better get tough fast imo
