Dude it can be way worse. We have seen worse. Geno Smith has 0.0 passer rating with 3 INTs against Bills. Sam Darnold throws for 86 yards, 4 INT against Patriots
I'm not completely opposed to it, but do we REALLY want to throw yet another inexperienced young QB to the fire before they are NFL ready on an offense this bad? I feel like this has been the Jets MO for 2 decades now and it never works out.
It’s funny because when everyone throws their hands up in the air and are like why didn’t we keep Darnold(?!) they often forget games like that. Obviously he flashed way more than any other passer we’ve had here and we realistically should’ve kept him and put a real offense around him. But he wasn’t lighting the league.
He also doesn’t seem to impress any of the coaching staffs he’s been exposed to. None of them are anxious to keep him around.
Football is a secondary priority to Darnold. A lot of coaches are turned off by that. Thats just my theory for why they give up on him
I can’t imagine these games looked much worse than anything Fields has done minus week 1. At least they threw the ball.
Brady Cook has likely not even run our offense in practice since the start of the season. If you realistically want him to play you’d have to elevate him to #2 for a couple weeks at least. The kid runs the scout team, who’s job is to emulate the opponent for the week. You can’t just toss him out there.
I was at the game. Best seats I’ve ever had, too. About 8 rows back from the 50. At least it was memorable, I guess.
Wow, I think this is some kind of record...clamoring for the practice squad QB by mid-season. JSMH I can't remember a time where the morale was this low among Jets fans...
Football is just his job. He likes other things more. Including partying with his boys. Coaches today want you in the facility 24/7
It just doesn’t really make sense dude lol. He went out once and got mono and now suddenly he’s an unfocused party boy? You have anything else that’s ever been reported that says he’s out there ripping shots every Thursday night? I’m not a snob, I’ll buy into third part sources and X posts..
I’m not asking if you care whether I believe you or not. I’m asking why you think he’s a party boy or football is secondary to what he cares about. I only think one team really gave up on him and that’s the Vikings. I think they did so because O’Connell and the GM out smarted themselves with an awful McCarthy pick that they made before Darnold had a good season. Kirk Cousins had a couple good seasons before that too and they probably felt they could plug and play.
Maybe, but can he generated negative passing yard offense or throw 2 picks a half and lead us to a loss? If so, he fits right in. Might as well try him, and if he fails he can go back to PS. But I do think at some point we gotta throw this guy in towards the end of the season. He is 24 years old, played 5 years and started 40 games in P5, played in preseason, by that time would have spent almost entire season practicing with the NFL team. Why not see what he can do towards the season end?
