Good question. The answer is that we were offered only a 4th round pick for him. Maybe even 5th. I think the goal here is to create a good environment for a QB to come in. RBs are not that expensive. We could tag Breece next year for 11-14 mil and that would greatly help the QB. 4th/5th round pick is nice, but Breece for the above price range I think is better. We were not getting a haul for Breece, he is relatively cheap to keep even on a tag, and would make a big difference for a new QB. I think it was the right move to keep him.

Yeah it's pretty telling that we only traded defenders and demanded Mitchell in the Sauce trade. These trades seem like a clear priority realignment from defense to offense.

I'm a little torn on Breece though. I like that he'll probably be here to help a new QB but he's also obviously unhappy and is increasingly making it known. Working with Benkert to try to get traded was just a complete clown move. Compare that to Quinnen who kept his desire to be traded quiet for months so we could maximize value for him. Breece acting like he is just isn't smart and I'm not crazy about having his attitude in the locker room around a bunch of impressionable young players.

Anyway, I'd give the trades an A+. We traded away guys on the right side of the ball and got a lot more value for each of them than anyone expected. We got such a haul that we went from having zero optionality in the 2026 and 2027 drafts to a ton of optionality in both.

Yes, Breece is acting like an absolute fool to lower his value, but credit to Mooge for not getting pennies on a dollar there. A 5th round pick (or even 4th) for Breece is low value. RB tags are not that high. Mooge can tag him and trade him this offseason too. Breece wasn't bringing a 1st, a 2nd, or even a 3d round pick, maybe not even a 4th, which is already low. Definitely the right move to keep him unless we could have gotten a 3d.

Breece may not have gotten traded but that doesn't mean he will be on the roster next year. He will likely walk as a FA as I doubt the Jets would tag him (not even sure that they can). What is likely is that he leaves and the Jets get a compensatory pick that is not much worse than what the Chiefs are offering in a trade.

I would be disappointed if we lose him for nothing. Depending on the formula, who we get and lose, etc, if we end up with a comp pick, it's OK. But if he just walks, it will kind of sucks. I think we will tag him though and maybe trade. Though I actually want him to be on the roster next year. We need a good RB for what will likely be a new QB next year. It's not that easy to find a dynamic guy like Breece. Not even with the second round pick and very hard in free agency too.

We just cleared a ton of cap room and we could easily hang on to Breece for 11m or so. We should not be depleting our offense.

Yeah interesting that the 3 players we traded were all defense guys, so from that point of view, yeah I like the implication that they realize we need to fix the offense…I’m assuming we probably got calls for GW as well and glad we didn’t move him

The best NFL team I've seen, in terms of dominating all facets for several years, is the Cowboys dynasty of the 1990's. Yes, it was a different era, and before the salary cap we know today. And yes, it required superb execution when it came to the actual drafting. But still it must be said: (arguably) the best team ever was created by trading a cornerstone for a draft haul.

I mean, we'll probably waste all these picks on shit (can we trade one of the 1st round picks for an entire scouting team?) but that's a great haul. People were erecting shrines to Joe Douglas when he did half as well as this.

    Time to embrace the tank.

We finally found a bigger jerk as owner than the Jets head Woody.. Jerry Jones. He trades Parsons for two draft choices then picks a a good but lesser talented player for two top draft choices. Finally Woody has found someone on his level.

Plenty of draft picks coming in to fix problems.

Getting two first round picks for Sauce is probably the best deal we could have made if we wanted to ship him out.

With a good QB and plenty of momentum these will both be later in round one.

I just think it is a mistake and that Sauce can be a very good player on a reasonable contract for a long time.

I hate the Quinnen Williams trade but he was not happy and asked the team to trade him so I get it.

I have to wonder what this means for Quincy Williams who has become a fixture on our defense.

There is also the possibility that these two players might not be the right players for whatever kind of defense Aaron Glenn thinks he is trying to run.

The idea that the front office was willing to let Breece go for a third rounder is also disturbing,

The biggest problem is that our rookie coach who has only won one out of eight games gets cover and that it will be quite a while until we are anywhere neat the playoffs.

Woody is a moron and I am not happy with the direction the team is going in.

If I could trade Woody and one of the Colt's first rounders from Jerry then sign me up.

I gave it a B+ for what they did but you can argue the guy that should've been traded was Hall.

I appreciate keeping the offense together but now they have to resign him (and idk if he even would at this point) but if you didn't trade him to let him walk that makes no sense.

If we even get a comp pick with 100mill in salary cap we have to overspend with to get anyone to sign their life away for this team we likely won't.
    Even if we did it's what maybe a 2027 5th? I would say a 26' 4th>>>27' 5th (maybe nothing)
Him and Quincy wanted out and we should have let them go, this is the weirdest tear down rebuild ever.

I don't know. To me, this is what a true rebuild looks like. Not like either one is still on a cheap rookie deal. Now we get cap space and draft capital. Jets are 1-7. Not like they have much of a "core" to build around.

Neither did the Bears, they hired the right coach and are good now. One year, not 3 or 4, the idea of a "proper" rebuild just isn't the modern NFL.

I gave it an F. The Jets unloaded core players who were very good. It's all about the QB. If the Jets would just focus on the QB problem, none of this would have had to happen. Nevertheless, they went into the season with a big ? at QB, which failed (again), so now the answer is to blow it all up (again)? I've seen this movie before and the ending sucks.

Yes, it is all about the QB, but unfortunately they need one and alot more.... even if they hit on one in the draft, it'll be a couple of years before he's "the guy" and the players traded will most likely be on the downslope (or want more $), especially Q (who I felt was the best player on the team)

Well, uh, I think something happened yesterday that makes a QB change a little more likely next April.
