He's playing the jets and 40 percent of the users of this site are so beaten by the team they will label someone as trash, but when they play the jets they are the unbeatable X factor. They will also blame Glenn for the rain and their upcoming divorce.
Damn right! And the rain will be coming down sideways instead of straight up and down! I do stand by my statement, though. He's 37, outside of the Achilles injury hasn't really sustained anything major and he was never known as a scramble guy anyway. He's playing for that one last chance at a starting gig and it begins with the Jets this weekend. Which, unfortunately, means he'll be feisty. Hey, who am I to say. Maybe his goose is cooked and the Jets make him look like the downtrodden vet he appears to be.
He's 6 of 9 for 39 yards in mop up duty. I read a week ago the phins were looking to upgrade their backup.
22-19 Jets win, and still no INTs for our defense. We'll keep that streak alive another few weeks until we play the Saints.
The bar is just set so low - we are an underdog to shitty Atlanta team without Penix at home. Not that Penix is so good, but Kirk sucks now and is worse than Tyrod at this point. Don't take me wrong, I will take an L as the season is over anyway and we need a better pick for a QB, but with good coaching we should be winning home games like this fairly comfortably.
This should be a game we can win, but I voted loss because Jets… We’ll find a way to fuck it up somehow, and I’ll have to be happy with the fact that it helps our draft slot…
I hate, hate, hate, HATE that this is basically how I feel every single week. Flippin' sad is what it is... BTW, I'd take Kirk Cousins every single day of the week and TWICE on Sunday over ANYTHING we have on our roster and not blink an eye.
I liked Penix in College but I don't think he will turn out to be a good pro. Falcons could be in the market for a QB which would make it doubly bad if we win this game and cede our draft position.
I was reading the Falcons board last night and Penix allegedly has some sort of huge problem taking snaps from under center. He won’t (or can’t?) do it and isn’t comfortable doing it, probably because of his 8,000 knee surgeries. So I think there’s a pretty good chance they’ll be in the market for a QB. That’s wild to miss that in the scouting process, but it’s such a handcuff for them especially because they have an elite downhill runner.
Personally, I thought Penix was the most pro-ready QB coming out. Until you factor in the knee surgeries. Probably the most difficult obstacle to overcome, when it comes to injuries of the legs, is trusting the restorative process. If you are always playing while waiting for that next "shoe to drop" as far as injuries go, you'll never be effective. Some can do it others can't. Sounds like it's pretty clear Penix might be having difficulties forgetting about the injuries. This recent injury doesn't help the situation. Probably what it was so shocking at the time when they took Penix in the 1st. I won't be in the least surprised if they take another run at QB in this draft, if they can. You're right about Robinson. They have to do something about the QB position or risk wasting years of talent in Bijan.
Yeah…I watched his championship game and did not come away impressed at all, either with him or with Odunze and thought they were both overrated. I get it’s only one game and hardly a valid judgment, but I do put a lot of stock in title games like that…great players show up great in big games, and small players don’t. I felt the same way when I watched Vernon Gholston be absolutely invisible in his title game and wanted no part of him either. Unfair, harsh, I get it, but sometimes I just get a gut feel from stuff like that and I can’t come off of it. I’m sure I’m probably wrong as often as I’m right with that, but it is what it is…I was cringing while hoping we wouldn’t be stupid enough to draft Gholston and was pissed that we did, but I was also hoping we wouldn’t draft Penix, and I’m glad we didn’t on him
