Yep. When it matters in September thru October, we fold like a summer chair. When we are out of it and aim to have high draft pick, suddenly we are world beaters. We started the season 0-7 to make sure we are out of playoff contention. Then we won 3 of the last 5 games. These type of late season wins are the reason we have the longest playoff drought in major 4 professional sports. Year 15 is over and we are heading to year 16. Aaron Glenn is a clueless Head Coach We don't have a QB Winning late season games extend the life of incompetent Head Coach and take us away from finding our franchise QB. We are the joke of NFL but we go the December wins going for us. Yay I guess!
How are we going to call Glenn a clueless head coach though? The team is playing hard and somewhat well right now. We have the best special teams in the league and some good young players. If Andrew Luck was on the board and we were beating the Kirk Cousins Falcons I’d be pissed. But he’s not there. I like watching these young Jets fight.
Not really. We all know the “winning vs losing” does nothing but make everyone dumber. The solution is get drunker!
I like how young players play hard for him. But his in game decisions don't instill any trust in me. Defensively we are still very bad even though he comes from the defensive side of the ball. Don't think he is the answer for us honestly. That's all I have to say about him.
I feel like anything less than perfection from AG elicits “omg awful in game decisions”. This hasn’t been a thing for weeks now. Really since the Broncos halftime disaster.
What decision didn’t you like today? He won another challenge. They converted the only fourth down play they went for. As BA said above there hasn’t been a ton of in game mismanagement in a month+.
Sorry man I just can't sign up for complaining about the HC being clueless and winning in the same post. You wonder why people called the jets coaching position an uphill battle? It's this thought process. Damned if you do damned if you don't.
JV. Honestly, this is not a thread about AG. I will respond. But why the heck are you happy with this win? Can you explain? AG's decisions were OK. No complaints about today. My main issues with him, sticking with Fields until we were fully out of it and him not solving the defensive problems even though he comes from the defensive side of the ball.
They have an incredibly young roster so winning games is generally good for young players. Idunno I’m not thrilled about losing draft position but I want to see the boys win some games. This isn’t a roster of 30 year olds that had a disappointing year and a huge QB injury. Our two starting receivers and defensive tackles weren’t on the roster to start the year. Both our offensive tackles are in their first two years. 2/4 of our starting secondary are on their rookie deals and then we have two more corners that are second or third year players. Let the guys win.
It seems you are putting more faith in Mougey's ability to handle a draft than any GM this century. I firmly believe that winning games, especially under pressure, is much more important to a young team than the minimal difference between drafting fifth or drafting sixth unless the NFL introduces a guarantee system for off season moves.
100%. Mougey had a great start with his first draft and then his trades. I can't wait to see what he does in the upcoming draft and offseason. He is the only hope I have about the Jets honestly.
I don't know who he is. But if we are out of the QB race, I hope Mougey invests in the offensive side of the ball first.
Stud pass rusher who honestly might go 1 overall if Tennessee picks 1. I’d also argue the defense needs way more help than the offense these days. Wild to say, but it might be true.
Maybe if there was a generational QB in the draft or if this was a lame duck staff but it's not. I want to see this coaching staff and these players keep playing well and learning how to win. Many of these guys will be back next year.
I think the most important thing right now is an upward trajectory. I would rather see things starting to gel, than the same things I was seeing during 0-7. I don’t think anyone can go and tell professional competitors to lose on purpose .
