That's what I keep hearing from every Raven fan. It appears the problem is that even though he is always close to the defender and doesn't really get beat, he never turns his head to the ball. Basically an easy target. You can just throw his way and know you will not get intercepted. So even when WRs are closed, they are pretty much open. And the teams have good scouting reports now. Apparently AG thinks he can take that stickiness skill and coach him to be able to track the ball a bit and turn into younger bigger JD Reed. I think easier said than done, but I suppose if anyone can do it, it is AG.

Btw, this costs us a 5th round pick too as it negated Kinlaw loss, which would have been a comp of a 5th. AG and Mooge must REALLY like him. Hope they know what they are doing.

Don't bother - we all suspected your head looked like a peak anyway.

You're thinking of Kyle Wilson by some chance?

Man I HATED that guy…my main memory of Kyle Wilson is him trailing the receiver by like 3 yards and then celebrating and wagging his finger like no no no when the QB overthrows the receiver … like he had anything to do with it

    Man he sucked

Kyle Wilson seriously had some of the tightest coverage I’ve ever seen for a guy that was terrible. I don’t think he’s ever seen a football in the air in his life.

I feel like the "turn to make a play on the ball or else it's PI" rule was designed for Kyle Wilson. How many times did you see him on the ground with the WR he was covering with a flag being thrown behind them?

And him probably celebrating not realizing he committed obvious PI.

I hope AZ Thomas is catching up fast (or Stiggers is close to ready to start) because with Sauce playing as well as he is, the guy opposite him is gonna get picked on a lot - especially a guy who's almost no threat to pick the ball off and is a DPI waiting to happen. Stephens needs to step up or he'll end up benched in the not-too-distant future.

For those wanting to bring DJ Reed back, from everything I read, he wanted a change of scene and sounds like he wasn't interested in returning. Now why they chose Brandon Stephens and paid him the way they did is another story. Let's hope the impressive play and progress he showed in TC find their way through to games. It's more of the same for him through one week, but it's still only one week

Yeah, I was one of the guys bitching about letting Reed go as I think he was very good for us…really like a 1b to Sauce’s 1a

And I also still believe that guys will say a lot of things…”I want a change of scenery” or “I want to play for a winner” or whatever, but I also believe that a lot of that is talk and many times you can find a way to keep the guy…often that will come down to money, and I’m not saying that you need to overpay everyone to keep them from leaving, but for very good players in key positions, yeah you should try.

From what I recall, we didn’t even make him an offer or try to convince him to stay…which I think sucks because we are a much better defense with him than without him.

I felt the same way when we let Moses walk to Baltimore because he “wanted to play for a winner” bullshit…we didn’t try to keep him and we should have…and hey, for all the talk about wanting to play for a winner, he was just fine coming back here later. So I don’t always buy it. Sometimes a player just gets frustrated and wants to vent. Sometimes the player is just negotiating. Sometimes the player maybe wants to be shown a little love. whatever.

We should have tried harder to keep Moses back then and we for sure should have tried to keep Reed now…I fully believe that had we tried, we could have found a way to make it work.

Reed is 28, this is probably the biggest contract he'll sign and probably entering the downside of his prime. I have 0 doubts whatsoever that he completely wrote off any shot at resigning with a franchise that wasted his mid-20s and has been historically out of contention by Thanksgiving.

Yah it seems like that was his position, so it is what it is…I still think you at least make an offer…you at least place the call…you never know unless you try

But it’s all water under the bridge now…he’s gone and our replacement is a HUGE step down. Wilks and AG need to find a way to cover for that…whether its a scheme adjustment, or more playing time for Stiggers or maybe the rookie if he’s showing anything at all…I don’t know.

But not signing Reed and then also letting Echols go (who I think typically showed up pretty well when he was put in there) was a mistake by Mougey and AG…only one game for sure, so now it’s up to Wilks and AG to figure out how to fix this, but if they don’t, it’s going to be a long season on pass defense

    I have to bump this.

Don't know how many of you put any stock into PFF but he's ranked 13th overall amongst CBs. Besides that, - I think we can all attest to this guy having a pretty remarkable turnaround from a horrible season start. Between this, Briggs, Phillips & the players and draft picks from the trades, --- I'm pretty impressed with Mougey so far. Alas --- big miss on Justin Fields, but its just so damn difficult to find a QB.
