The other day on the Jets app I read something about Jets-Saints where coach A.G. said something about the Saints rookie QB. He's a older rookie or not a true rookie QB something like that. I thought to myself dude look in the mirror. I've been hearing about Coach's mentors Parcells & Cambell etc. during telecasts as if this is some young up & coming coach. Coach A.G. looks to be damn near 60 years of age. Woody my goodness hiring a rookie HC that already appears to be approaching retirement age.
I didn’t like the Glenn hire. I knew we should have done everything to get Ben Johnson here. Woody needed to back up the brinks truck right to his house and given him the keys to make all the decisions. “Sean Payton “ type deal. Instead we get the wrong Detroit coordinator….. he left Detroit and they went from contenders to probably not making the playoffs. He just isn’t a head coach, to be honest he wasn’t even a good coordinator… more a DB coach in my opinion. We need to cut our losses and rebuild with a legit head coach. Whoever between Baltimore or Pitt doesn’t make it we should trade for Tomlin or Harbaugh. Get a true head coach with experience and know how to win.
Tomlin and Harbaugh aren't going anywhere. And while I don't have a lot of faith in Glenn either, this year of head coach options is pretty awful even if we were to hypothetically fire him. The only hot prospect this year is Jesse Minter, but he's another DC. Every prospect, both those with and without experience, come with major red flags. I honestly don't know what to do at this point.
Agreed. Why would you want Glenn with Mendoza in the best case scenario? In the worst case the Jets dont get Mendoza and Glenn gets fired midseason anyway. You can hire someone like Mccarthy, Tomlin, Harbaugh, Gruden and hand them the keys. IF Mougey did make the trades midseason then I would say he can stay but ultimately if the next head coach wanted him gone pending who it is, then he can leave to. I would be willing to pair Mougey up with Kingsbury or Flores but ideally one of the guys listed prior over them.
Woody is gonna have to bring in a former successful HC. An empty MetLife should drive the point home.
Yep same. If McCarthy goes to the Giants or elsewhere and Harbaugh and Tomlin are not available the Jets need to just call Gruden.
I know they're saying that Glenn is safe for next year, but I have to think that if he ends the season with 5 straight blowout losses (we can be pretty sure that the Bill and Pats games will be that), two of which were to very weak teams, that they will have to rethink keeping him for another year.
If McCarthy goes to the Giants and provides a 1 year turnaround, that would be PR disaster for Woody and the Jets especially if Glenn's ancient team building plans are still producing losses.
I'm not crazy about McCarthy but he does have a Lombardi trophy on his resume and without a doubt knows how to put together a offense. His teams seem to have defensive disasters in the playoffs and IMO he didn't win enough (Super Bowls) with Rodgers as his QB. Even the one year they won it all they did it as the #6 seed if I remember correctly. But I'm not crazy about Sean Payton either for similar reasons and his Broncos seem to be having a great year. I'm not a believer in the Broncos this year they play a ugly brand of football and I expect them to get knocked off at some point but it is what it is they're having a big season so far. I can't sit here with Coach A.G. as my coach and nitpick/criticize coaches like that. Truth is Mike McCarthy warts & all compared to what we have at head coach now would be a Parcellsian improvement.
The lack of talent shouldn't save him because it was his choice. HE chose not to bring back Aaron Rodgers at QB. HE chose Fields & Tyrod. HE chose to trade away Quinnen & Sauce. HE chose to shut down Garrett for the rest of the season with a non-season ending injury. We deserve a late Christmas present after this season. PLEASE FIRE COACH A.G.!!!
Gruden would be like Belichick in North Carolina. If McCarthy, Harbaugh, and Tomlin aren't available, then hire someone serious like Klint Kubiak.
This is the key right here. He goes to the playoffs. That's the first hurdle that needs to be cleared. Getting this drought over with. After that, the champagne problems of not going deep enough into the playoffs can be argued about once the franchise is stabilized and we've actually made a postseason appearance.
Glenn is not the coach who will bring us the VLT. Time to cut the losses as early as possible. But we know what Woody will do to be honest. Woody will give him 2 more years to waste all our draft capital and look for another Defensive Coach as a first time Head Coach. Wish it was another sperm who won the race instead of Woody to be honest.
