http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=2758756 I agree, I think the Jets will challenge the Pats and will be even better next year, although it will be tough
Good read. I think we're going to take 1 (small) step backwards next season, then take huge strides after next year. The future for the team looks very bright.
Take a step back? If that happens, then there is a problem. This team will improve to atleast a 12 win team. Draft/sign a couple run blockers, pass rushers, and a shut down corner and this team is ready.
If you think about it, with the cap space the jets have, and the draft picks they have, it really isn't that difficult. The jets will most likely draft a DT and DE on day 1 of the draft. And they will most likely sign a shut down corner like Asante Samuel. They will probably draft or sign a run blocking guard as well.
Don't set expectations too high, we are playing a playoff caliber schedule unlike last year with teams like Tennessee, Houston, the Browns, etc. I'm actually gunna predict another 10 wins next year and another wild card....
It's impossible to argue with the sunniest of sunshiners on this board, but I'll try. 2006, the Jets overachieved. We took advantage of a tissue soft schedule (not that there's anything wrong with that, but the road to the playoffs is much tougher next season). Going back to my first post, I think we're going to take a small step backwards (8-8, 9-7 if we're lucky) due to a tougher schedule and question marks pertaining to our D. However, the way this current Front Office is running the show, it appears such needs will be addressed and the Jets will be a great (not good, or slightly above average) team for seasons to come past 2007/08.
I was surprised that Clayton is on board. Last season he said, and I quote "The Jets will stink (in 2006). They will be in the Brady Quinn sweepstakes" Let's hope he is much more accurate now.
Arguing over the schedule means nothing, what seems hard now can be easy later, so many things can change in a season. Reality is that there is no easy schedule in the nfl. The jets will build off a 10 win yr, and improve.
they'll be better next year. with every non-Bradway draft and/or signing the jets will improve. Plus we won't waste 3-4 games with Derrick Blaylock as our RB next year.
