Jets | Team beings contract talks with Cotchery Sat, 24 Feb 2007 09:24:49 -0800 Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports the New York Jets have started preliminary contract talks with WR Jerricho Cotchery, according to a source. Cotchery has one year remaining on his current contract http://www.kffl.com/hotw/NFL?page=2
We should let Cotchery go and get a solid #2 instead unless he proves something this year. McCareins might be #2 by training camp's end. I would trade Cotchery right now for a 5th round pick. Easy.
The title to this thread is misleading. I thought you were going to tell me that they finished a deal. I think we all know that they are working on an extension...
Maybe I thought the same too but it can't always be assumed that negotiations are being done. Look at the whole Coles fiacso a few years ago. I think the fact they are talking to him signals they think he is going be a huge part of making this team a Super Bowl contender.
Sign him to atleast a 5 yr deal, this kid is a stud and will only get better. He really had a breakout season.
IDIOT...good to hear Tangini continues to follow the prescribed pattern and is more interested in locking up our own proven talent b4 they go throwing money at some hired gun who may or may not buy into our team first system.
You guys aren't in a joking mood it appears. Surprising. This thread seemed to be not too much new news to me. We knew this would happen. Thought I would try to be funny, instead was blasted. How can you guys not see that as a joke and laugh? Calling me stupid or an idiot is not needed.
Rather than turning this thread into another irrelevant battle, I ask that you guys not talk about the "joke" any further. I also changed the thread title for it to not be misleading. I hope it comes together. An extension here seems to be goal this offseason, as it should be. Cotchery is the man and I hope he's here for a while.
We all have no idea how good Cotchery can become...locking him and Kerry Rhodes up sets the building blocks for this franchise.
