The giants have offered a 4th rounder for Mcgahee. IMO he is worth at least a 2nd rounder but I wanted to see what everybody thought

No way I'm giving a 2nd for McGahee, possibly a 3rd but I don't even think I would give up a 3rd for him. Bills fans are dying to get rid of him, reason is besides against the Jets he is just not that good of a RB. I think a 4th seems about right, using the Barlow trade as an example is not a good one because that was a horrible trade that we made, Barlow was not worth a 4th.

Runningbacks are not worth a lot in trade unless they are superstars. That's just how the value system works out if you look at the trades that have been made.

When a team overextends in an offer, even for a superstar runningback, they usually get kicked in the teeth by the results.

McGahee for a 4th is definitely a reasonable offer. I would not take it if I were the Bills, but I certainly would not expect the counter-offer to be a high first day pick. That's just not going to happen unless the Giants are idiots.

4th Round pick. McGahee is really a horrible back. He put up 275 yards in two games against the Jets and averaged about 60 yard a game in all his other performances to fall short of 1,000. The only reason I MIGHT say third rounder is because McGahee just may thrive playing in the highly inferior NFC, but a 27 year old back with wheels as scarred as McGahee's is a big risk.

    bills will say a 2nd...giants say a 4th
where does that end up....3rd round
hopefully, this should drop the value of portis and turner in potential trades...

I agree that a 3rd sounds about right for a deal to be made. The real point is that decent RBs are a dime a dozen, so (as others have noted) overpaying for one is usually a mistake.

The Giants should just accept that they will be getting less from RB this year than in the past few years, and find a cost-effective person to put back there.

Since we gave up a 2nd rounder for McCairens, McGahee should at least be worth a high 1st. If you follow my sarcasm

What the hell happened to Mcgahee he was awesome that year he beat Travis Henry for starting running back job then since he always kills us so I figured he was the same but I guess not.

I'd be very happy with this if they could get him for a 4th. 3rd wouldn't be bad, but a 4th would be golden.

From what I've heard, Bills want a 2nd rounder and 5th rounder.

Giants fans are going to find out in a hurry what the new GM is made of. There is a huge amount of pressure on the Giants to win and win now and the've just lost their offensive MVP. A weak GM would overpay for Turner or McGahee and put the franchise in even more trouble than they are in now.

Eli Manning is to these Giants as Richard Todd was to the Jets. The only difference so far is that he has had more talent around him. If that talent begins to whither away as it appears to be doing now the Giants will go to 5-11 in a hurry.
