    Well at least that would give us one less draft need and we could afford to take a 3-4 OLB sleeper in the mid to late rounds (maybe Bazuin) and still fill OL, DE, CB, etc.

    That doesn't make sense to me-- why wouldn't the steelers have accepted a trade then?

    Porter would be another Bryan Cox in my opinion...Cox was one of my favorite Jets. I hope we get this guy. We need a guy on defense with a swagger and who can put pressure on the QB...Porter does both of these.

    We need Porter!

    Maybe they had to release him before March 2nd? Some players are due roster bonuses...

    Maybe it was the Jets who weren't happy with the Steelers' demands.

    Jets would have had to pay the roster bonus and probably figured they'll release.

    Barton is a good player. I am not so sure Porter would do much better.

    Porter would be an awesome pickup! We all have said that Hobson would better fit inside...But adding Porter, or Adalius, would be tremendous to the defense...If the Jets land either, we all should be happy.

    It's hard to measure them against eachother because they play two different positions. If we keep Barton he will play the MLB but if we sign Porter he will play an OLB. Measuring these two players in a 3-4 scheme playing two different positions is difficult.

    Porter is one of the better playmakers in the league in the 3-4 off the edge. He will improve our defense immensely. With all the attention given to Porter Bryan Thomas will face less blockers from his side. Porter could get 8-10 sacks easily if he is healthy.
