I am freaking SICK of your arrogant attitude bro. If your opinion differs from others, they're automatically wrong and you just be this little 7th grader who thinks he's always right.

You argue with anyone who disagrees with you, and no matter what, you get into this bitchy attitude that annoys the shit out of me.

People will disagree with you, but don't try to be this cocky person man, your schtick is old.

Because they may be switching to the Cover-2, a system Porter doesn't fit? Wouldn't that make sense?

Seriously though, Porter would be an awesome acquisition, and I'm glad we're showing interest in him.

True, but all of Porter's talk is boasting about himself and ripping on players on other teams. He never says bad stuff about his teammates or coaches. If nothing else, he would be a great locker room presence and a great personality for the team.

Honestly, I think this can, and might get done. I'm really hoping to wake up to some good news tomorrow.

If I remember correctly Pittsburgh was at the bottom of the league as far as available cap room and perhaps we only offered other players and they didn't want to take on extra salary.

But their new coach is a BIG fan and user of the Cover-2 scheme.... I'm not sure if they've announced it, but it's very likely that they go to teh C-2 scheme, in which case, Porter is the odd man out...

With all due respect to you and the many fine posters who agree with you on this, IMO there is no comparison between Barton and Porter. Joey Porter is one of the elite linebackers in football, and is only on the open market because the Steelers switched to a Tampa 2 defense (and are a little cheap.)

If the Jets don't make a serious play for Porter or Adalius Thomas I will be very dissapointed.

Hahahaha, that is Jerry Porter of the Raiders. We are talking about Joey Porter. OLB from the Steelers.

Porter is a cheaper version of Adalius Thomas. Sure, he can't drop into coverage as well but is that really that big of a need? What he lacks in pass coverage he brings in leadership and the ability to fire up his teammates. Bring Porter to the NYJ!

According to ProFootballTalk, Porter was stunned at his release as he was expecting to get a RAISE. He had a $4mm salary for 2006 and a $1mm roster bonus due which is why he was cut.

Porter was cut and not traded because the Steelers want to resign him to an affordable deal. They probably won't be able to do that, however if they traded him he was gone for sure.
