i dunno if u guys heard this but ... According to Sirius... McGahee was shipped to the Ravens for their 2nd and 6th round draft picks.
This is what i found: http://profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm POSTED 7:18 p.m. EST; LAST UPDATED 7:59 p.m. EST, March 7, 2007 McGAHEE TO RAVENS TONIGHT OR TOMORROW? A league source tells us that there's a good chance that the Buffalo Bill will trade running back Willis McGahee to the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday night or Thursday. Per the source, there are a couple of other teams still in the hunt for McGahee. As of now, however, the Ravens are at the front of the pack. Also, a reader tells us that there are reports on Sirius NFL Radio that such a trade would entail Baltimore sending a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick to Buffalo. If the trade happens, Ravens likely will be signing McGahee to a long-term deal. Based on recent contracts, McGahee could get $20 million in guaranteed money. (Ray Lewis will be thrilled with that.) Meanwhile, the Bills are looking for McGahee's eventual replacement. Chris Brown visited Buffalo on Wednesday, and Corey Dillon is up next.
I think the Ravens just got themselves a steal. McGahee is going to be a monster. I'm glad he's gone from the division.
McGahee will fit nice in Baltimore, but we moved back 26 spots in the second round and still got Thomas Jones. Giving up a second and a fifth is a lot in my opinion for a back that is injury prone. How many yards do you think McGahee runs on our defense for when we play Baltimore next year, cuz u know he loves playing the Jets.
Im wondering if someone could explain to me the whole dillon situation, I thought he was retiring to rest his body. Did I miss something ?
Yeah, he was lying (as Dillon tends to do). If no one picks him up, he can then go ahead and say he was retiring anyway. But he'd like to get paid again. As for the McGahee deal, I think the Ravens just got fleeced. They could restructure Jamal Lewis's deal but they'll give up a 2nd and a 6th rounder for McGahee? Gimme a break. The talent level between the two backs is tiny. I don't care that Lewis is old - he's still a fighter and has a few years left in the tank. McGahee is talented but he is brittle and is a locker room cancer. If anything, this just makes the Bills more scary now that they have more picks.
McGahee will not help out the Ravens. Anyone who thinks he still has the speed he had in Miami or thinks that he can regain that speed is wrong.
I agree that the Bills just weakened themselves. But I don't agree that McGahee will continue this trend of his (sucking against non-Jets). Like I said...guys going to be a beast. The Ravens line is much better at run blocking than the Bills. And this is scientific fact? And where is this brittleness people are seeing? He missed two games last year, and was in every game (even without starts) since '04.
Done Deal! McGahee traded to Ravens for multiple picksESPN.com The Ravens and Bills agreed to a trade Thursday that will send running back Willis McGahee to Baltimore in exchange for the team's third and seventh-round picks in this year's draft, along with the Ravens' third-round pick in 2008, league sources tell ESPN.com's Michael Smith. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2791831
Damn I am going to the Ravens game. Now I will see the Jets not be able to run and all and get run on with ease. Oh well.
