how many of them have new head coaches? ESPN just said that 7 teams have new coaches so far this year.
You probably could have figured this out, but here ya go... Pittsburgh: Mike Tomlin Miami (twice): Cam Cameron Dallas: Wade Phillips Thats it... The rest of our opponents: New England, Buffalo, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Washington, Kansas City, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Tennessee and Giants...all have returning head coaches.
Just because we have 4 games against a team with a new head coach doesn't mean anything anyway. We had a rookie head coach last year and look how competitive we were....
Yeah I am not too sure of the significance of this either... Sean Payton and Eric Mangini were very succesful...
im gonna go out on a limb, but i think NE will take 2 from us this season...theyve made the biggest and best upgrades of any other team in the east. i hate to think it let alone admit it... this year our sched is brutal...hopefully we have a big jump from our younger players in terms of production and growth...if not, it am gonna beez a looooong season...
I agree NE will beat us both games and easily take the division but I don't agree that we will be in for a looooong season. Well over half of the AFC (to me atleast) clearly will be competitive for a first round bye. I really believe the AFC is that close. IMO we should be a better team this year with a harder schedule -> therefore about 11-5 if you ask me...
how about passing over some of that stuff your smoking, seems it makes you dillusional. 11-5 is a pipe dream with the schedule we have. last year we were lucky to have no major injuries and a major soft schedule. i'll bet we can rule out that happening this coming season and making 8-8 will be quite an accomplishment, imho. might want to look at that schedule again. it's nothing like last year!
We also had a pretty easy schedule, we were healthy all year, and we had a great draft class that made major contributions immediatly. I'd be suprised if all the rookie head coaches had that many things fall into place in there first seasons.
Just because the opposition had a winning record last year dont mean jack either. Anything can happen injuries players upsetting the chemistry and players playing subpar see Pitt Den carolina and ATL... All examples of the choke . Lokk @ Pitt they won the sb and didnt have a winning record....
I agree. CHAD has not really beaten a top eschelon team in quite some time. Now with a rebuilding team, I doubt that he will this year.
It's been a while since someone has gone thread to thread ignoring the topic and just blindly bashing Chad.
and the jets are not better than any of the teams you mention above. they may have had injury problems and a down year for one reason or another, but they are all better teams than the jets. the stars lined up perfectly for the jets last year and we got majorly lucky. with the coming schedule, it won't likely happen again. and most of our schedule is going to be tough. philly is better than the jets, dallas, pitt, denver, carolina and obviously the pats. to say the jets are better than any of the above is laughable. even atlanta is a better team talent wise than the jets. 8-8 if we're lucky like last year.
no, I think it is, usually, an advantage to play a team with a new head coach... it just worked out for us because we were coming from a coach who was notoriously unprepared. Sean payton had a team that was playing at home for the 1st time in a while. The team wasn't as bad as their prior record suggested.
Lucky like how? Lucky like when the refs ruled Bakers TD catch out of bounds because I have to admit that was real lucky. Were they lucky when Mangini outcoached Belichik and the Jets beat NE because I have to admit that was real lucky too. Was it lucky Nugent missed all those field goals in Game 1 and the jets gutted it out anyway, I guess that was luck too. I guess it was complete luck in Miami last year in a immensely hard fought game the lucky Jets made 3-4 clutch plays in the 4th quarter to win a game against a top 5 defense and cemented a playoff appearance. I mean I do not know about you but that was a ridiculous amount of luck. Was it lucky when the Jets were methodically prepared for anything save 2 games last year. I mean that has to be luck. Mangini somehow had the stars aligned for him and got the team ready and had them prepared and working their asses off from the coin toss to the last minute. He must be the luckiest coach in the world. I agree it is complete luck that he got the whole team believing they will be ready for anything even Coles. Man I wish I was as lucky as Mangini. I guess it was complete luck last year that the FO drafted at least 6 players that were either starters or contributed to the Jets last year. I agree dumb luck I suppose. Was it luck that with a trade of a 2nd round pick last year the Jets got their QB of the future, their starting RB and another 2nd pick this year. I agree that was an insane amount of luck. Even luckier I might add was the FO's insistence on holding out for a #1 pick that got rid of a talented player that plays only 3-4 games a year for a future all pro center that plays every snap through thick or thin. I got ot admit he got so lucky sticking to his guns like that when he could have gotten another 2nd round pick, complete luck there. With all that luck the Jets were luckier still in getting a easy schedule because they were so good in 2005. Wow man luck is just oozing out of the Jets. I suppose the Jets were lucky even though every team on that easy as pie schedule saw the Jets on the schedule and had that date penciled in as a W gotta to admit that was real lucky because those teams came in expecting a win and just laid down. Really really lucky for the Jets. Shit I feel lucky reading your post.
Right on MiamiPuck. Who's good this year? Who's going to be good when we play them? We caught the Texans at the right time, before they realized that Vince was the man. We caught the Colts and Bears at the right time, but couldn't close the deal. To be a playoff team, means you need to be consistent, because on any given sunday.... Mangini is breeding consistency into the team, that's the best reason to believe we're going to succeed.
sorry to annoy you! The situation bears watching regardless of what you think. The topic is winning games next year and in your infinite wisdom you conveniently forgot to mention that I was agreeing with another poster about our prospects. We all can't agree and guess what? That is what these boards are for. OPEN DISCUSSION and an exchange of ideas.
I think the significance is just when it comes to making predictions about our upcoming seasons... These teams with new HCs are usually teams that struggled the previous year, but with the changing of the guard, you cannot predict what the team will look like in the upcoming season...
mp is was luck on most!!! (Was it luck that with a trade of a 2nd round pick last year the Jets got their QB of the future,) WOW, now thats quite an assumption. just b/c tangini drafted him he's a shoe in to be the qb of the future. what has he done to deserve that honor. i believe he has only completed 1 pass in his nfl career so far! for the jets, i guess that makes him the future. scarey thought if you asked me. out coached bb??? please!!!!in his dreams maybe. the pats are by far a better team than the jets. we caught them taking us lightly and they lost, but they won when it counts, and thats what matters. i guess by your standards, the jags are all world b/c they smoked us!!! you and i haven't agreed much, if at all on anything and most likely never will. i just refuse to be a homer with this team. seen it too many years, coach's,teams and players to know that one season does not mean we are destined to be great. heard it before but have yet to see it, with the exception of the one year many moons ago.
