Jets reel in big Fish By RICH CIMINI

    Here's the part about CB/TE:

"The Jets have made a concerted effort to improve the front seven via free agency, which should allow them to focus on other areas in next month's draft. Sources say they're targeting a cornerback with their first-round pick (25th overall), with Miami tight end Greg Olsen also on their radar. Pitt's Darrelle Revis and Texas' Aaron Ross are among the corners that could be available for the Jets."

    they wont draft olsen.

cuz one of the top WR's will be there at 25 also.

its WR or CB. thats just my opinion.

The only thing this tells me is we are absolutely not targeting a CB in the first round. The only stories that are gonna be leaked by the FO are the stories that the FO wants to leak.

I think they're hoping that Anthony Spencer, Jarvis Moss or Justin Blalock drops to 25.

I know they keep things pretty tight and all info in house, but remember last year there were reports that they would go brick-mangold-clemens, and they did. So maybe it's not all as secretive as we think. They could go any way on draft day

Man, this is really getting interesting. I'd personally like to see a Guard or CB. We still need a WR, but with Pennington still in there, is there really a point in getting a speed-burning deep threat? Not this year, IMO.

yes, because Chad is our qb, we must only look at slow receivers.

I have never, ever seen a small weakness blown so out of proportion.
He does not throw ropes but he can still heave it 50 yards down the field. Chad can make every throw in the book.

I don't think Chad can make any throw but it is not the deep throws chad has problems with. I don't understand the thinking of not getting a deep threat because Chad is our QB. He has hooked up deep on numerous occasions. It is the throws that have to be fit into tight spots where Chads arm strength comes into play, not the deep throws.

Exactly what I was going to say, Vision. He can get it downfield (although it takes seven seconds in the air), but he in no way zip a ball into a tight spot when a defender is in position to make a break on the ball.

Of course Chad can make the deep throws, but because he doesn't have a "gun", for some reason people think he is incapable of doing so.

cb sounds plausible, as does OG and of course Adam Carriker, but TE? No way. WR mmight be slightly more liekly, but I think both are just barely more reasonable than RB.

I feel the same way. But I don't think I'd cry if we got a big DT in the second round.

I wouldn't believe any of these rumors anyway. I good front office is spreading misinformation. Look at the team and the past behavior of the team (assuming same management) and that will get you a much better guess than anything else.

My preference would definitely be to get a G sometime on day one, but it just makes sense to me.
