Anyone else get ESPN: The Magazine? There's an article this month about Jerricho going home for a family reunion. Mostly it was puff about his family, growing up poor in Birmingham. There was a small section on his football career, getting snubbed by Auburn then going to NC State with Phil Rivers. Then getting drafted 4th round by the Jets and finally getting a contract extension. Sorry I can't cut and paste because that doesn't work for magazine articles on ESPN.com. I could link but you wouldn't be able to see it unless you have Insider, in which case you get the magazine. Either way, it's nice to see Cotchery get some recognition.
That's a pretty big statement there. I'm not so sure about that, but he should be really good for us.
How many receivers in the league have his route running skills and can also go all the way after the catch at virtually any time? It's not speed that marks his ability it's awareness of the field around him. That was Keyshawn's great strength also, however Keyshawn has the escapability of a 80 year old man after the catch.
I think he's gonna catch 90 balls for 1300 yards and about 10 TD's. By the end of the season the contract extension he signed is going to look very good indeed for the Jets
could we not related jericho cotchery to jesus christ? thats ridiculous. i think he had his breakout season already and he's only going to get better from here. with age comes experience and talent and he's going to tear up defenses this year.
he had a great year last year and i think hes going to get better...but top 5 receiver potential? i doubt that...but i think he will be solid for us
As long as Chad is here, no one will put up top 5 receiver #'s, he spreads the ball around. Btw, thats a complement to Chad.
Cotch definitely has top reciever potential IMO. He's quickly become my favorite Jet by far. He runs routes well, breaks tackles, has speed, and makes plays after the catch. He has the potential to have a Rod Smith kind of career, and thats exciting to see for the Jets.
Here's the magazine on-line but you need insider to view it: http://mag.espn.go.com/ActiveMagazine/getbook.asp?Path=ESP/2007/04/09&bookcollection=ESPN_AM
Yeah Rod Smith is a very good comparison. Marvin Harrison is the other guy he reminds me of, although without Peyton Manning throwing to him he's not going to put up those kind of numbers.
