I think letting Barton, Barrett and McCareins go is a bad idea. Barrett I can part with but McCareins has been contributor and I really don't understand why all of you are so quick to kick him to the curb. Barton has also been a contributor. I think we should hold them till post draft and see how things go and after camp we decide who gets the boot. There is no way McCareins, Barton and Barret hold enough weight to move us up more than one or two spots in any given round in the draft. We'd need to package other picks with that to move up significantly and I don't think we should give up a prime chance to bulk up our depth so we can grab a corner -- which at least one solid corner will fall to us and worst case scenario we go for Josh Wilson in RD 2.

    This doesn't seem realistic. Sorry.

Besides the fact that McCareins can't catch...He is due $2.9 million as a base salary this year and that is way too much for a 3rd receiver.

try 4th this year...he wont be the 3rd most likely if hes kept on the team...his overpaid ass will be dealt this draft, or in the next week

  4. I do not believe we want to move up in this draft. We are in perfect position at 25 to let someone fall into our laps, or move down 2-3 spots and still get a high end player.

If these players are being spotlighted for a trade, I believe it will be for additional day 2 picks, not to move up to any spot.

I think the Bears could use J-Mac. He played at NIU and the Bears receivers are speed demons. Grossman could use a good possession receiver. We owned them once on a trade, why not try to do it again!

It might not be that far fetched. The Giants have holes at both wide receiver and linebacker. Barton, McCairrens and our 25th for their 20th if Revis is available fills our need for a starting caliber corner and the Giants get a couple vets at weak spots and only move down 5 slots.

I'm on vacation today. I served jury duty a couple of weeks ago, and made up for it through yesterday. Today, I'm watching the Rangers advance, and have 4 and 1/2 hours til the puck drops. What else should I be doing?

I agree, Bartons a very solid LB, we should hold on to him as well. I thought he played well next to Vilma last year.

If he isn't dealt and if we don't draft a WR, he is 3rd. There is absolutly no chance Brad Smith, Tim Dwight, Frisman Jackson or Wallace Wright will beat him out for the job. Even McCareins can beat those 4.

Thats what makes him valuable as trade bait. He is good and he did play well. Teams dont trade for other peoples crap players (well, no usually). They have to see some value in the player they trade for.

The question from the Jets point of view is "Can what we get for Barton make up for what he brings to the team?" Considering he's going to make 3 million plus, wasnt an every down player last year, and Mangini brought in two other "mangini guys" (Kassell and Schlegel) to play the same spot, I think it makes sense to trade him.

Bottom line is that I dont see all three of those guys -- Barton, Kassell, Schlegel -- being with the team next year. I dont know which one it will be, but because Barton is the most expensive, the oldest, the one with the most trade value, and a holdover from the previous regime that he is most likely to go.

Wow. If it's just a troll post for laughs, then you got me, but if there is any seriousness behind this I do not think I have seen a post that I disagree with more on so many levels. If you are serious, this is one of the worst and most riduculous posts I have ever seen.

Serious response: I would trade away trade before I would trade Clemens. And very very few people think Chad is the QB for 3 more years.

They could package all three and their first round pick and move down to 26.

Can we trust the FO's decision on Clemens and what he may bring to the club.

If this is at all true and trades do go through, I'd look for a scenario similar to my draft below, with a corner to replace Berrett, a reciever to replace McCairens and groom behind Coles and Cotch, and a pass rushing OLB so that Hobson can slide into the vacant ILB spot next to Vilma.

Personally I wouldn't mind if all 3 were back going into training camp. Especially Barton and Barrett. Barton is the emotional leader of our defense, and it seems the Defense just plays better with him on the field.

Right now with the way our secondary is we shouldn't go into the season with Dyson and Poteat/Miller as our starting CB's. I think we should bring back Barrett and Barton for 2007.
