traded with the Niners for their 1st rounder next year along with a 4th rounder....great trade for the Pats....how do they always get these damn first rounders...
I don't think they ever even plan on taking anyone. They just want to postpone their pick every year.
That sucks... San Francisco could potentially pick Top 10 next year too. Great trade for them. With so many players signed to one year contracts (Assante Samuel one of them), they're going to need it next year.
I don't think it's worth it to overreact at this point...SF could make the playoffs easily, first of all, second of all, let's be happy about the present: The only guy the Pats are getting in the first 2 rounds this year might "accidently" shoot Belicheck in the face.
They play in THE easiest division ever. They should sweep Zona, could sweep St Louis and could AT LEAST take 1 game from Seattle. 49ers have a good shot at winning the NFC West and picking in the low to mid 20's.
true...the niners have a team finally and very well could be in the playoffs next year...but then again they play the seahawks who they beat twice last year...the Cards who they lost to twice last year...and the Rams who i beleive they split with last year...anything can happen...
Damn, what a trade for the Pats... Why would the 49ers do that? The chances are that the 49ers will pick far higher than the 28th pick... next year
Patriots get another 1st rounder??? They gave up a 1st rounder therefore they did not get another 1st rounder. It's obvious the 1st round draft value for the Patriots was not what it was after Beason and spencer were picked. It's really not that great a trade. Also shows Jets made right move in trading up - the quality of the 1st round was limited.
the patriots are a team that has limited openings for a rookie this year, there was no great WR onthe board, or CB, and no LB they really were thrilled with to backup. So they move to next year, save some money, pick up a mid round choice, and hope the 49ers implode
Bingo. I will admit that my wish for the Pat's two picks were Revis and Harris. We'll see how it works out starting with game 1. Can't wait.
Bad trade for the niners, do they really think they could finish with that much of a better record than the Patriots to make the trade worthwhile?
I seriously doubt it. The 49ers are coached well and they added good players this offseason. I think they will win 10 games this season.
I'll be intrigued to see how the sports media chooses to portray New England's choice of trading out of every possible first day pick, except for a talented-but-not-spectacular safety with a history of gun charges. Positively, no doubt.
SF should be decent this year. One player I think will have a huge year for them is Vernon Davis. So the pick may not be that big of a deal in the long run.
...and I'll be intrigued to see how the biased Jets fans choose to portray New England's choice of trading out of every possible first day pick, and drafting Meriweather. Oh, that's right, negatively, no doubt. Be more predictable please.
It seems that way, but I've heard the same about Arizona, St. Louis and the Seahawks even... San Fran doesn't scare me in the least.
In as much as I don't want them to do well with the draft, they always seem to do well from a lot of perspective. Hats off to Pioli and Belichik....jeez I hate those two!
Well, I may be predictable, but I'm not sure that's mutually exclusive to the idea that it was a questionable and possibly ill-advised choice. Granted several teams made similar moves, including the Jets. But there had to be somebody who was of value to the Patriots.
