Sorry if this is already posted. Steelers guard Alan Faneca says he's going to be leaving the Steelers next year due to various contracts disputes. From what I saw it seemed like Faneca was pretty upset with the amount that the Steelers were offering him and was also upset with the decsicions that the organization has made this off-season (Joey Porter, etc.) Is there any chance that the Jets would be able to pick this guy up in FA next year? If they can would you be willing to spend the big bucks to land him, or would you rather go with a less talented, less expensive player?
Actually I just rewinded it and listened to it again and from what ESPN was saying it seems that the Steelers are the one's who are letting him go, not the other way around. Apparentley they aren't even going to offer him a contract next year.
Polamolu contract expires also at the end of the 2007 season. I am sure he would be the 1st they would franchise. But they could work something out in the next 9 months.
What about sending Kendall and a 4th rounder for Faneca? If you were the Jets would you make that move?
no chance the steelers accept a trade of a 4th round pick and a guy rumored to be cut for a 6 time pro bowler
Faneca was a great player but he's nothing special at this point. I think he's been in the league 9 years and after another season with the Steelers I think it would be a bad idea to give him a big contract.
