The three Pro-Bowl snubbed Jet players this year made the list http://www.nfl.com/news/story/10230829
Laveranues Coles, WR, Jets -- Coles has averaged 85 catches and 1,072 yards over the past five seasons, culminating in a 91-catch season last year, yet he never seems to get the credit he deserves. He gets it here. Nick Mangold, C, Jets -- As a rookie he stepped right in for the departed Kevin Mawae at center and the team didn't miss a beat. While fellow top pick D'Brickashaw Ferguson had his ups and downs at tackle, Mangold was as solid as a rock in the middle. He looks like a fixture at the spot for at least the next 12 years. Kerry Rhodes, S, Jets -- As a rookie, Rhodes established himself as a steady player in the secondary with his 105 total tackles. Last season, he stepped his game up to an all-pro level, keeping his tackles up (98) while also recording five sacks, four interceptions and nine passes defensed. He's one of the league's bright young stars.
Cotch seems to have gotten a decent amount of press since this past season. And Hobson is just an average player IMO
Mangold for 12 years? Yes!! Let's hope Brick pulls it all together this season. Based on last season, Brick isn't a bust possibility is he?
The hatred is based on the incident while at Florida state. He and Warrick got busted for getting hooked up by a cashier for clothes or sneakers. I think it was $300 worth and only paid like $10. Anyway Bowden kicked Coles off the team and only suspended Warrick for a game (maybe more). Warrick goes in the first round to Chincinati (4th pick I think) and Coles falls to the third round. That's why on MNF when the players state thier name and college Coles always names his high school.
Sure he's a bust possibility. Every player is a bust possibility, even if their first year was gerat (which Brick's wasn't, but it was still acceptable). The only way we'll be able to judge if he's a bust or not is several years down the road. For the fourth overall pick, I'd consider him a bust if he were anything less than "good" on a scale of: 1)out of the league 2)scrub 3)viable backup 4)average starter 5)good 6)great 7)elite But to each his own
I also agree with all three. Mangold- not sure if he is really underated, the guy is awesome and was a rookie, but most anylists gave him his due I thought Rhodes-biggest probowl snub, guy is stud Coles- possible top 10 WR, but nobody ever mentions him as a top WR BTW wasn't Demico Ryans the Def Rookie of the year? Which he deserves to be, but doesn't winning that award make him not underated?
not only did he have that thing in school, but he left our team on not so great terms, saying we didnt appreciate him. Then he went to the Skins and said they tried to take advantage of him. And hes already complained about manginis camps in his second year back. But Ive liked Coles since he came in the league with Chad. They make a great Duo. Ive seen him make to many tough catches and catches over the middle to ever hate on Coles. I think Cotchery has to pull out another good year before he can be considered underated.
I would say that for me he has to be in the high 5 to low 6 range at least by the end of his third season for me to be happy and for him to be a bust he is a low 4 or a 3 after 3 seasons.
The rule of judging players is three years as a starter until they can be rated. Its not my rules its the experts who get paid to rate players. If Brick must be judged now hes a dead set 5, hopefully heading toward to 6 and 7. The man needs to add weight to his frame.
Why not? for a guy to be that small and make the plays he does, also take those hits....how can u not like him? or @ least root for him.....
I like Brick... I think in the long run he will turn out to be much better the mcneal.. due to the circumstances and all mcneal was placed into a great line already... once the jets get a solid line that has a great abundance of talent he will be more then a super star
