Week 1 - NE - Win a huge game to open the season and give all Jets fans hopes for the Superbowl Week 2 - Baltimore - Loss and Jets fans all do a 180 and say the team sucks Week 3- Miami- Win because the Jets own Miami Week 4- at Buffalo- Win because the Bills suck now Week 5- at Giants- Win because Mangini is just too smart for this team Week 6- Philly- Loss because Philly is a very good team - what are you gonna do? Week 7- at Cincinnati- Win because Cincy is gonna have a meltdown by this point in the season Week 8- Buffalo- Win because Buffalo will still suck Week 9- Washington- Win because - come on - this is like the worst team in the league now besides the Raiders and Texans Week 10- Bye Week 11- Pittsburgh- Loss because this is a very good team Week 12- at Dallas- Loss because you can't win an away game on 3 days' prep Week 13- at Miami- Win because Miami still sucks. Week 14- Cleveland- Win the Chris Baker revenge game Week 15- at NE- Loss because this one is just too hard Week 16- at Tenn - Win because VY will be injured by this point Week 17- KC - At this point the Jets will be 10-5. So will two other teams. This game will still mean something and the Jets will have to win to be assured a playoff spot. Can the Jets take down Herm and his boys to waltz into the playoffs? Hell yes. 11-5.
LOSS - Just because Jets split with them last year, doesn't mean they'll be able to do it again. The Patriots are even more stacked this year, and the improvements they made overshadow the Jets' upgrades so far. I doubt the Jets D will be able to contain that Patsy offense. LOSS - Like Junc said, McGahee has been a Jets killer for a long time now. I figure this game to be a real ugly one, with the Ravens eking out the win. WIN - Yes, indeedy. WIN - The Jets D should be good enough to handle Losman and crew. Lynch will probably be a stud, but hopefully won't break out during his rookie year. WIN - I agree, the Giants look like a mess. Without Barber, they're nothing. Eli is overrated big time, and the Jets shouldn't have trouble getting turnovers off him. LOSS - If McNabb is healthy, I don't think the Jets really stand a chance. Their blitzing defense should give Chad fits. And, as you said, history indicates the Jets don't have great odds against them. WIN - Not very confident about this one. I think Jones should be able to run on them, and Chad should be able to exploit their coverages, but will they be able to score enough points to outdo that Bengals O? Hopefully Revis will start coming into his own by this time and won't be a liability in the secondary. WIN - I'm thinking the Jets sweep these suckers. Without McGahee, their intimidation factor goes way down. I don't expect it to be a easy sweep, but these are 2 very winnable games. WIN - The Jets just outmatch the Skins, IMO. I think the Jets' passrushes will get to them whenever Mangini decides to dial up the blitz. Should be a pleasant bye week sitting at 6-3, and coming off 3 straight wins. WIN - Jets should be able to handle Roethlisberger (who seems to have lost his early career mystique). The loss of Cowher should have some negative impact on the team, and will finish under .500 for the first time in awhile. WIN - I pretty much agree with your observations here. WIN - It'll be fun rubbing in the sweep to Fin fans here. WIN - If Brady Quinn is starting by then, I think Mangini will be able to take advantage of the rookie QB. Jamal Lewis just does not scare anyone anymore. Jets O shouldn't have much problems putting up points against them either...besides, 14 should be enough anyway. LOSS - It'll be a pain having to hear those Patsy fans gloat about their sweep. LOSS - After last year, I just can't count Vince Young out. They'll be improved team, and I think they'll hand the Jets their first upset of the season. WIN - I can't see Mangini losing to Herm. I just can't. It'd be like child prodigy losing a spelling-bee to a kid who sniffed too much glue in class. So that comes out to be 11-5, which I have a hard time believing myself. I suppose it's a relatively easy schedule, and while the Jets should be able to sweep the Bills and Fins, I doubt it'd actually happen.
That's not a fact, the last place sched can be a myth. it turned out we had an easy sched last year but not b/c we finished in last. We had a very similar sched to the other 3 AFC east teams so the sched excuse is overblown. We split w/ NE, had chances to beat both SB teams. We were a GOOD team last year, if halthy we should be better. it may not result in 10 wins again but we should be better.
I agree with you on the 12-4 prediction. The schedule is tough, but not that tough. If I had to pick losses, I would probably go @baltimore, @NE, Washington, @Cinci. Week 1 - NE - WIN getting revenge on the Pats at home, and showing that the Jets mean business. Week 2 - @Baltimore - Close LOSS, McGahee just scares me, it's on the road, the D is very good, and for some reason we can just never beat the ravens. Week 3- Miami- WIN because the fins are horrible this yr, period. Week 4- at Buffalo- WIN as the bills without McGahee and Clements are just horrible. Week 5- at Giants- WIN as I think the jets were the better team already, and without barber, and eli at QB, along with the team being horribly undisciplined, jets should win here. Week 6- Philly- WIN because McNabb has been injury prone lately, it's at home, and I don't really fear the Eagles anymore, they continue to slide yr by yr. Week 7- at Cincinnati- LOSS because of a super-high powered offense on the road, I think they might just be too much to handle and the win streak has to end somewhere. Week 8- Buffalo- WIN again, bills will be swept. Week 9- Washington- LOSS, I just have a bad feeling here, especially on the road. I like where this team is going, they are improving and have a very good offense. Week 10- Bye @ 6-3, feeling good but a little depressed from Washington loss Week 11- Pittsburgh- WIN with the Jets at home and I think Roethlisberger is overrated, he never has a good game against the Jets, revenge for 04 playoffs. Week 12- at Dallas- WIN with chad in a dome as stated before, and I just don't think Romo is any good. Week 13- at Miami- WIN again, Miami swept. Week 14- Cleveland- WIN as Jets want revenge from last yr, it's at home, and they've got a rookie QB. Week 15- at NE- LOSS as I don't see the Jets sweeping NE, it's just too hard. Week 16- at Tenn - WIN as now without Pacman Jones, I see the Titans as nothing. Week 17- KC - WIN welcoming herm home and sending him packing with a big KC loss. 12-4 AFCE Champs
have to agree with above post. when roba has the jet's as division champ's, it's definitely the kisss of death!!!! just like last year's playoff prediction. when i saw roba's prediction of a victory, i knew it was the fatal blow before the game ever started. he means well, but gives me a bad feeling in my gut...
Week 1 - NE - Loss. Patriots just want it more on day 1. Week 2 - @Baltimore - Loss. They're better than us. Week 3- Miami- Win. Surely. Week 4- at Buffalo- Win. Low scoring game though. Week 5- at Giants- Win in OT. Week 6- Philly- Loss. Maybe a shootout. Week 7- at Cincinnati- Loss. We can't score with them. Week 8- Buffalo- Loss. We always split with Buffalo. Week 9- Washington- Win. We're better than they are. Week 10- Bye @ 4-5, slipping back under the radar... Week 11- Pittsburgh- Win. Tough game, settled by a monster field goal in the fourth quarter. Week 12- at Dallas- Win. We're too good to lose this one. Week 13- at Miami- Win if we're made of the right stuff. As of now I believe we are. Week 14- Cleveland- Win. Make up for last year. Week 15- at NE- Loss. Too hyped up coming off five wins straight, and the Pats clinch the division. Week 16- at Tenn - Win. Titans are overrated and inept. Week 17- KC - Loss. Typical, isn't it. That's 9-7 and just outside the playoffs. Actually, I can't see us losing to KC in a win-and-in scenario. It really depends on how the conference is shaping up at that point. 7-1 in the second half is a big ask though.
The strength of schedule is somewhat of a myth. 1. play 6 division games = same as the rest of their division 2. play 4 games against AFC div = same as the rest of their division 3. play 4 games against NFC div = same as the rest of their division 4. play 2 "strength of schedule games" Last year our strength of schedule games were Cleveland and Oakland. Whereas NE played Denver and Cinci.
1 - NE - Loss. Pats Make a statement of how good they are. Week 2 - @Baltimore - Loss. They're better than us. Week 3- Miami- Win. We will split the season Week 4- at Buffalo- Win. We will split this season. Week 5- at Giants- Pick em. I wil give us a win in this one. Week 6- Philly- Loss. Week 7- at Cincinnati- Loss. We can't score with them. Week 8- Buffalo- Loss. We always split with Buffalo. Week 9- Washington- Win. We're better than they are. Week 10- Bye @ 4-5, slipping back under the radar... Week 11- Pittsburgh- Loss. They are over Bettis Retiring. Week 12- at Dallas- Loss. Dallas comes to play on Thanksgiving. Week 13- at Miami-loss. We split. Week 14- Cleveland- Win. Make up for last year. Week 15- at NE- Loss. Beli wants to put a dagger in our season. Week 16- at Tenn - Win. Vince has no help. Week 17- KC - Loss. Typical, isn't it. 7-9. We have the season we were supposed to have last year. At some point we see what Clemens has to offer. Good or Bad.
Here is fact why we know Jets schedule was so soft. Look at NFl draft and which teams were picking and you see most of the teams they played picking very Early. SOFT.
You have good Depth On OLine, QB, TE, CB, Dt, and FB ? please warm bodies dosen't equal depth . You have alot of Des but how many can play.(Kenyon Coleman- couldn't even make Raiders roster- orginally Raiders draft choice) Again afc east luck out last year and you all pretty much play a soft schedule. (just Jets were softer than those others) I just hope with unrealistic expectations jet fans have this year, that they can tolerate a 8-8 season. jets schedule al
actually there were about 7 or 8 teams last season with easier schedules, and about 6 of them were in the playoffs, so why dont we talk about them having easier schedules instead?
and they were mostly the same teams that the rest of our division played. Stop making this a bigger deal than it is. Look at he playoff teams from last year in the AFC: SD played 3 playoff teams, beat 1(Beat KC, lost to Bal, KC) Bal played 3 playoff teams, beat all 3(SD, NO, KC) Indy played 5 playoff teams, went 4-1(Beat NYG, NYJ, NE, Phi, lost to Dal) NE played 4 playoff teams, beat 2(beat NYJ, Chi, lost to Indy, NYJ) NYJ played 4 playofff teams, beat 1(Beat NE, lot to NE, Indy, Chi) KC played 4 playof teams, beat 2(SD, Sea, lost to SD, Bal) Only ONE playoff team faced more playoff teams than the Jets and 2 faced LESS. Overall ourSOS was stronger than SD and Bal among AFC playoff teams in the AFC and among NFC playoff teams our SOS was stronger than Chi, NO, Dal and Sea. Do you want Pro bowlers to back up your starters? That's unrealistic, we have alot of guys who are solid players playing in back up roles. Who cares if coleman coldn't make the Raiders a long time ago, he was successful in Dallas and provides quality depth as does David Bowens. -At WR we have McCareins, Brad Smith, Tim Dwight and Chansi Stuckey. -At RB we have Leon Washington and ced Houston -OL we have 2 frmer startr in wade Smith and adrian Jones plus Adrien Clarer who they are high on. -DEs we have Coleman, Bowes, Hamilton, Kimo -NT we have pouha returning from injury -LBs we have Harris, Cassell, Schlegel, Chatham, and Coleman/Bowens will also play some OLB. -DBs we have Poteat(who was excellent for us last year), Miler, Barrett, Coleman, Washnton, Smith. We may not have thebet strters in the league but we have excellent depth espcially on defense. Knock it off w/ the shedule argument. I alreayd showed you, while easy, it wasn't the easiest and was in line w/ other playoff teams.
We would make a killing because I would bet the farm against my beloved Jet fans. We have a better team than last year and will probably have a worse record. According to most here the Bengals, Bills, Steelers, Cowboys, Eagles, Giants and Chiefs will be easy wins. The post here are comedy. Lightning only strikes once and we got ours last year. Trust me people everything will not work out perfectly this time around.
First off who cares how many playoff teams you played , when the majority of regular season was against cremepuffs. (Afc East played) Case In Point Denver wasn't a playoff team and that was more because of shananahan going with rookie Qb in second half. Lets see you have majority games against bad teams + few playoff teams and= You have a good enough chance to have enough wins to be a playoff teams. Listen what do you really have at WR behind Coles and cotchery. Alot of question marks . Brad smith not even close to be fulltime WR yet. MCCarreins has been a major dissapointment with Jets. Ol- your not serious are you . A Jones- the human turnstile and wade smith A Clarke no one knows what hes going to be so stop. Jetsget one injury they are in trouble CB You Have J Miller(can't cover my 92 year old grandma) and Poteat(sorry he sounds like fancy desert) You ask any of them to step in lineup your in trouble, DE- Like I said what do you have there besides Bodies B hamilton, Kimo, Kenyon coleman(Bigger Bobby hamilton) Eric Hicks Old Bear De (escape me) QWhat does it tell you Jets are bringing in alo of bodies. You throw enough crap against the wall, you hope some stick. Dt You have Pouha- Isn't that guy eligible for social security 28 years old and your waiting for him to emerge. Grom where - his sleep QB- Your one hit away from tuiasosopo time. FB your starting FB Barnes is already a question mark. You have no one behind him. TEs- You were saying please Like i was sying jets have no depth whatsoever and made playoffs off last years cupcake schedule.
And your team was the biggest cupcake of them all,the same can be expected this year. Don't you have to start pressing you S+M costume for the games?
RaiderJoe, dont be so bitter because your franchise is the worst in football. The Jets will end up 12-4 and will be making a Super Bowl run. Deal with it and dont be bitter. The raiders will turn it around in about 10 years.
