Let's see what teams would clearly be in worse shape than the Jets if all 32 teams lost their starting QB- Bills Bengals Texans Chiefs Dolphins Patriots Raiders Lions Packers Vikings Saints Giants I could see how it would appear right now to you that there are only about a dozen teams with worse backup QBs than the Jets. However, Brett Favre, Daunte Culpepper, Ken Stabler, Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, etc. did not play much their first years in the NFL. It is very humorous to me how you have already decided that Kellen Clemens is a bust.
All teams with a lot of talent on both sides of the ball and not walk overs. If Green has anything left the Dolphins won't be an easy out 2 times.
The Dolphins have a bevy of question marks, especially on their offensive line. There rarely is an easy game in the NFL. This is not like Michigan playing Appalachian State on September 1, but I do expect the Jets to beat Miami twice this season. I look at the Giants and Redskins rosters and I don't get frightened when I think about the Jets having to play them.
jeaux is to football arguments as swiftyo is to hockey arguments. I guess it is the duty of the hospital to allow the stroke victims some computer time.
Raiders didn't do much to improve ? What were you out of the country or in a hospital. Lets just look at some of things they did to improve1. Coaching- Last year they had quite possible the worst offensive staff ever assembled. This year with boy Genius Kiffin and a professional staff. Tom Cable and alex Gibbs(unofficial) oline coaches- well respected oline coaches- tremendous upgrade. 2. Personal- Kiffin brought alot of guys that are very good fits what he wants to do on offense. Lets see. D Rhodes and FB Justin Griffith- two guys not only can run ,but just as effective catching the football. Not to mention drafting of best blocking FB in draft Lorenzo Neal clone- Oren Oneal. Signed Two Proven Blocking Tes in Fa - Tony Stewart and Fred Wakefield . Not to mention the drafting of best all around Te in draft - Zach miller Oline they Brought in alot of guy In FA that were familar with new blocking scheme. Stretch and cut - Denver type of blocking scheme. Lets see Center Jeremy Newberry , G Cooper Carlise, C/G Ben claxton, Cornel Green(purely backup) Drafted potential their LT of future- Mario henderson - perfect fit in this zone blocking scheme. Former basketball playwer had longest arms and the biggest wingspan(probably a year or two away) You take the new + what they have left+ very good oline coaches= that unit going to be much improved- thats not saying much, as you can only go up. (the biggest question with raiders) QB - Russell and Josh MCCown- has good chance to be starter. MCCown is very athlethic Qb that isvery good fit for raiders hybrid WCO. Defense- raiders had very good defense. They have made several upgrades that they think should take their defense up that next level. First Thomas Howard and M Huff are going to be so much better than they were last year(that saying something as both were very good) second they moved their personal around on dline- to be more formidable against the run, without sacfricing the pass rush. Third They want a hard hitten strong safety whether its Darnel Bing or eventually Donovin darius . One to let Huff play his more natural Fs and second to get more reliable tackler in than schweigert against the run. Fourth they upgraded their secondary- Yes they go very deep at Cb Position, N asomugha, F washington and Stanford Routt(could eventually be best of all of them) All those CBs prefer to play outside than slot reciever. Chris Carr who couldn't play nickel because he weas overburden with special teams duties. Raiders brought IN Johnnie Lee Higgins, CB John Bowie ( special teams and can be brought along slowly) Has all the tools you look for. Marqice Cole- another special teamer standouit that they can take their time developing. to free up some of carr responsibilties. They added even more pass rushers in Q Moses and emerging Kevin Huntley (remember the name) If Andre Dyson is your number 1 Cb you are in trouble. you don't have a probowl Rb in thomas Jones(not in AFC) YEs thomas Jones I will give you is a big upgrade but how much , isn he going to improve production, when you haven't adressed the oline. IF Pete Kendall goes the situation looks alot worse. again you should be happy what you saw from your Jets last year and for your future. Jets weren't two players away- didn't understand why they didn't stay the course. Sticking with my 8-8 prediction for Jets.
Where did I say K Clemens was a bust. I just stated a fact he hasn';t started one game in thje NFL and most every QB struggles there first year starting. If Denver stayed with plummer, there a good chance they are a playoff team. How is K Clemens (never started a game yet) and Marquis tuiasosopo( three games and finished only one- Jets) better than raiders backup situation. Please
No should have read, if you lost one of your starting Wrs, you feel you have someone that could get you by with, Season wouldn;t go to the toilet. MCCarreins as starter with Jets has been a major dissapointment.(any Jet fan confident in that ) Brad Smith not a fulltime WR YET. Tim Dwight- he didn't retire five years ago.
I don't see that with the Redskins at all. I suppose you could make a case for the Giants, but the problem there is that their QB is more deficient and their coaching staff is worse than the Jets one.
You have implied this for a very long time now. You are constantly telling us how Clemens sucks. Clemens is more ready to step in and play than JaMarcus Russell right now here in 2007. Clemens has gone through a training camp, a season, and now the 2007 offseason. He is also on a better team. This all adds up to the Jets having a better QB situation for 2007 than the Raiders.
"The Point is if Coles and cotchery are lost to injury, you really think MCCarreins is able to step into starting lineup and offense not going to feel there loss. " seems like you said BOTH there....learn to type what youre trying to get across....not what you want interpreted out of your post.
It's all relative. I think we would have a better chance of winning a SB in the next 4 years with Russell than any of our QB's based on nothing more than seeing what our QB's have done on the pro level and what Russell may be capable of. To put it another way if we could have traded Chad and Clemmens to get Russell hard to see how any GM doesn't jump at that. There is an idea around here that the Jets are not still rebuilding.
i hope you live near a giant body of water....cuz the flames they are a commin.....i dont disagree though.
kowie and winstonbiggs, you two aren't wearing your green glasses like most on this board expect of all jet's fans. i'm amazed you aren't getting bashed as troll's!!! lol
I don't know, sir. I bolded and underlined "for 2007." I don't know why you are talking about 3 years into the future. I am actually one of the biggest JaMarcus Russell supporters on this site. I have to be one of the first people here to ever post that name. I was on board long before Raiderjoe, by the way. Again, I was strictly writing about 2007 earlier today.
I see the Jets going 9-6 heading in to the last game w/ the Chiefs, who will also be 9-6...it will be a battle for the last playoff spot on national tv with the Jets winning 19-17 on a last minute field goal by the nuge, set up by a 57 yard run by Thomas Jones
You have implied that, i didn't say it. Clemens suck. All Im saying is Clemens is an unknown and it crazy for Jets fans to hail him the heir apparent to Chad pennington. NO one knows if he will ever be the answer at Qb but he might be. I have said he won't beat tuiasosopo out for second string job.(more experience) Right now we don't know who raiders starting QB will be. I think plan is to follow the carson palmer blueprint. Sit out rookie season and start the folowing year. Plans can change, and Russell might win starting job in camp. Raiders other backups have more starting experience than your backups. Who says jets have a better team than raiders this year. What happened last year, has no bearing on what will happen this year. All you have to do is look at last couple seasons. Some teams rise and some teams fall. happens every year.
We've been over this before. Clemens will have to suck bad, real, real bad in camp and preseason games to lose out to Tuiasosucko. In the salary cap era, Pennington, Rivers, Rodgers, and Tuiasosucko have been the only QBs drafted in the 1st and 2nd rounds who did not play any meaningful football their first two years. The Jets have a big investment in Clemens. The sooner you realize this and get a clue about the cap, the sooner you'll stop with this Tuiasosucko nonsense. Of all people, I cannot believe how you a Raiders fan would think this turd, this unmitigated turd would beat out Clemens. You are right. Nobody truly knows if Clemens will be able to play effective football in the NFL. You are also wrong. Clemens is the heir apparent to Pennington right now.
Wasn't that one of the two Rich Kotite seasons? They were 3-13 but two of those three wins were a sweep against Miami?
