Besides Curtis Martin who should get their jersey retired next for the Green and White. Winston Hill? Freeman McNeil? Gerry Philbin? Al Toon? Wayne Chrebet?

I don't think we have anyone else in line... The club MO seems to be, retire them if they make the HOF.... Klecko being the exception, but his exclusion from Canton is on of the great mysteries in sports.... We don't have anybody else lined up to make the HOF anytime soon outside of CMart....

Toon and Chrebet were great players, but neither need to have their jersey's retired.

Martin, also, was a great back, but he isn't the #1 All-Time Rusher, and he didn't win us any Superbowls.

Why should his jersey be retired?

If they do retires Curtis's jersey, I don't think it will happen before 2020.

Curtis is going to the HOF, his # will be retired. The only other player I see as close is Kevin mawae should he make the Hall. I think he's a borderline candidate but he has a shot. Chrebet was a nice story but never a great player and there's no way his # should be retired.

I don't think Mawae will get his jersey retired by the Jets because his best years weren't played for us.

There must be an unwritten rule that you can't make the hof unless you have won a superbowl.

You can't be serious? 1st saying George and watson built the yankee dynasty and now this? No one ever heard of Kevin mawae until he came to the Jets and he became an all-pro player here. of course his best years were here and he spent the bulk of his career here.

Don: what's going on w/ you lately? I know we disagree alot but this is basic info that you usually have a grasp of.

So using that logic only Emmitt Smith should be in the HOF as an RB.

Come on...Curtis is 4th on the all time rushing list and a total class act...if he doesn't get into the HOF they should close it down.

I think the player whose number gets retired... should have been Jet his whole career and had outstanding stats.. I love Martin but I dont think his number should be retired..... Other wise after a while every number will be retired then how you gonna play a game without no numbers

Next Jet? I doubt it'll be anyone from any past team, so I'll have to say it'll be between Vilma(most marketable Jet), Rhodes(playing like a Pro Bowler), Cotchery(if he gets #1 receiver status & ups production), & maybe Coles if his production stays up for the next 5 years.

All 3 Klecko, Maynard and Namath DID NOT play their entire career with the Jets. And in the Free Agency era I think it's impossible for one player to play his entire career with 1 team and that should not be a pre-requisite.

??? He has the team record for rushing. It's not like we're retiring Ark Monk or Ronnie Lott's number but a guy's # who was here for the majority of his career & set most of the teams rushing records.

IMO, the reason you retire a jersey number is because it would be ridiculous to watch another player wearing that player's number: e.g., it would be ridiculous to have another player wearing Joe's #12. You have to retire it.

What we're talking about here is outstanding performance with longevity. Here are my 2 criteria:

    1) League leading performance during tenure with the Jets
    2) 90% of career games played with the Jets

If Martin goes into the Hall (and he probably will), his number should be retired.

However, I think there are several guys from the Super Bowl team that should be up on that wall, even ahead of Klecko.

Philbin, for example, was every bit the player that Klecko was, and he won a championship. His #81 should be hanging, and he should have gotten more HOF consideration.

Larry Grantham played his entire career with the Jets, starting with the Titans and was a perennial All-Pro LB who was also overlooked in HOF voting because he played his entire career in the AFL. Hang #60.

Winston Hill should definitely be on the wall. #75 played over a decade with the Jets and was an 8 time All-Star/ProBowler. In the SI NFL book, he's listed as a 2nd team Player of the Decade at LT for both the 60's and 70s.

Finally, Rich Caster, should be hanging on the wall for the Jets. Without #88 streaking for TD after TD, the Jets highlight tapes of the 1970's would just be static. The guy was an unbelievable player, and arguably, the best receiver after Maynard to play for the green and white.

I love Toon, but he didn't play long enough to warrant consideration for this honor.
