Owners don't truly run the business of the team. They make final decisions on hiring and firing, but the day-to-day operation of the company is left to people far more qualified to do those things. Besides, what qualifies Matt Millen to be a GM of a franchise? Oh, wait. Bad example.
Can't find anything on this yet. Interesting prospect though. The link in the first post says "newyorjets" by the way, leads nowhere.
Not sure why everybody would think Parcells has any involvement in this at all. He was basically broke after his divorce which is the only reason he went back to coaching. Between the two of them they might have enough personal money to buy the parking concession outside the stadium (maybe). No, there has to be somebody else involved here. What CM might be able to do is get the owners to overlook somebody they may not like on their own (Trump, Cuban) but you need to be a billionaire to have any chance at buying an NFL franchise these days.
I'm so sick of Athletes talking about owning teams. How's he going to own a team? To be the owner, the REAL owner, you gotta be the guy that puts up the MOST money. How's he gonna do that? Jets will be worth a billion in 5 years, probably. He's gonna put up 501 million?
I remember how Martin always used to talk about just playing football to play and when he retired, he was just going to walk away. Through all the years and blood and sweat, he's finally come to love the game he was great at. I hope he is able to buy a team. I'd be interested if Woody left the Jets and sold to Martin. Might explain why Mangini seems to be close to Martin even though he has never really coached him.
The only team I can possibly think of is the Minnesota Vikings. The NFL has been trying to oust McCombs for a while now, and there was a bunch of relocation talk too. Otherwise, I have no idea.
whoever wrote this said it was a team other than the Jets...............i hope this is a lie...................
I don't think it would be the Jets. Woody Johnson owns a team that is on the verge of being a contender, which equals profits. He wouldn't abandon that now... would he?
Not to mention the fact that the team is getting a brand spanking new state of the art stadium built.
