I love Curt, but I don't want him owning any part of our team. If he's great, then we're in the same spot we've already been in (i.e.: with great ownership) and if he's terrible, then there's no way to get rid of him.

I do agree that this whole Bloomberg/homeless partnership thing makes me think he will be staying in NY, but I just can't see him having anything to do with the Jets. Besides, if it WERE the Jets, don't you think they'd have worked it so they could announce his retirement and ownership on the same day. Methinks yes.

McCombs sold the team 3 years ago.

The Vikings are currently owned by Zygi Wilf

That would be amazing! There was stories about how frugal Martin was ,while other top notch players were living in big mansions ; he was living in apartments and saving his dough. Wonder if he has the bucks to do something like this?

Did you ask them if they even knew he was retiring?

Ahh, I see. I was really baffled by "Jones". Sitting here at my desk pondering if I've been wrong all these years calling him Woody Johnson when it's actually Woody Jones :breakdance:

Just so everyone knows, NFL teams can't be bought by multiple partners. They can only be owned by one individual. The only exception to this is the Giants. So Curtis Martin, Bill Parcells and whichever billionaire will not be able to buy the Jets or any other franchise.

Was I the only one who just saw CM on ESPNNews? He said the announcement wasn't going to come today, but it is in the works. And no specifics as to what team. Sorry, I just caught the end of the interview. Maybe they'll play it again later.

Maybe Buffalo...it would be a hell of a lot cheaper then most teams.

If that's the case then he can't buy anything. Even the cheapest team requires a billionaire. Of course there is always financing but owners frown on that.

Wow, I never thought of it that way. Now that you've explained it, I can see exactly what you are saying. Against my better judgment, I'm inclined to agree.

I don't think he could possible have enough to be a principal owner then but he could certainly be part of a group.

Well, according to his interview on WFAN today, he was so close to a deal that he was actually planning on making an announcement today. He pretty much suggested that we can expect to hear his plans and which team it'll be within the week.

I doubt he'll own a team by himself because unless he owns an oil field, there is no way he could of earned enough money to buy a team. Someone will probably sell Martin a small percentage of a team(1-3 %) but don't think he'll have a major role with that team.

Ill be shocked if he can pull off buying a nfl team. When the Vikings were sold the 31 other nfl owners reject the deal on the grounds that there was not enough operating capitol available which put simply means that even though the investors were able to raise the 750+ million for the purchase they still did not have enough cash on hand to run the team

I don't see C Martin as a guy in that Billionaire club
