It was The Money Store, not Champion bank.

Actually, he did commercials for The Money Store (as did Jim Palmer), not for Champion.

    RIP, Scooter.

No that was Joseph Goryeb; otherwise known as a loan shark

And in turn, WTF are you talking about? I'm not slandering Jeter. I adore Jeter.

Again, I'm not going to speak for Shade, but I'm just saying that Rizzuto was a better ballplayer, nothing more, nothing less. I didn't say "Jeter SuX." I said Rizzuto is better than Jeter, and even if you don't fully agree, you have to admit, it's a damn close race.

That's not disrespecting Jeter, that's giving due respect to the Scooter.

Speaking of The Money Store, that was a big reason it took so long for Rizzuto to make it to Cooperstown. There was always talk that Scooter had mob ties because of The Money Store.

Thank God the veterans finally got that vote through. It would have been criminal if he had never been able to make his speech.

I can't remember for sure, but didn't he get voted in as a broadcaster before as a player?

You know what, I'm going to drop it, simply because what you're saying is right, and people continue to insist something is being said that isn't.

I am going to say for the last time though, I am NOT taking shots at Jeter. I was giving due RESPECT to Phillip Francis Rizzuto, arguably the greatest shortstop to ever wear pinstripes in the Bronx. (And I don't think it's an arguable point.)

Wow you guys are defesive! Who took shots at Jeter? Are you that Jeter-sensitive that simply saying somebody is a better player then him means you're taking shots at him? Scooter was a better player... what's wrong with saying that... even DJ said it himself yesterday.

    Viva Scooter!

It's about respect, don't take the time to bash a guy you are jealous of at the time of Rizzuto's death.

Of course Jeter will say phil was better, he's a humble guy(at least publicly) and he's not going to tell anyone he was better than Rizzuto. He wouldn't tell anyone he was better than Luis Sojo and by the way Rizzuto said many times Jeter was alot better than he was.

Either way this isn't the thread for that discussion, you guys just should have posted some scooter memories or offered condolences w/o brining up your irrational jealousies of Jeter.
