http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0708/preseason.studs/content.3.html The second-year quarterback has made a strong push for the Jets' starting job by completing 22 of 31 for 230 yards and a NFL-high four touchdown passes -- including three against the Falcons in preseason Week 1.
Those numbers are a little deceptive; most of his success came against the Falcons, although he did throw the one TD against the Vikings. I dunno if I'd call him a "stud" just yet, but his progress during the offseason has been tremendous.
I'm glad it's some respect about the Jets for once. I still feel they are celebrating a bit too early though. Wait until he's played a regular game vs. starters before any declarations .
Clemens has played well. If Penny sucks tonight and Clemens preforms well again then media hype will go into overdrive. Hard to argue that the hype wouldn't be justified either. I can honestly say I'm torn as to what I'd rather see happen at this point.
Then there's the "Penny would have thrown a floater and Jmac wouldn't have had time to run after the catch".
I really feel like this should be a "top 10 of the second stringers" because that's what this really is. What kind of BS article is written about the best backup running a vanilla offense against other backups running a vanilla defense? The reason we shouldn't be overly hyping KC is the same reason we shouldn't be overly worried about Pennington - IT'S PRE-SEASON!
Best thing I have read on here in a long time  But seriously, KC made great strides in camp, great to see for someone we spent a high draft pick for. Lets not anoint him the savior quite yet based on garbage time. Based on last years performance with a sub 500 team, Chad earned the starting nod this year. However, next year, all bets are off.
So if Chad going against a very mediocre Giant team tonight puts up another stinker and Clemens continues to move the team than what? Personally I think Chad should play the first 4 games of the season, but I think it's time for him to start playing showing everyone his able to throw the ball with some authority because if he can't this team is going to be held back.
Putting ANY Qb behind this OLine is akin to CDS (Career Death Syndrome). Chad will not survive the year behind this line and putting Clemens back there is running the risk of turning him into David Carr.
Being able to throw a quick out or having enough arm strength to keep the defense honest could make the difference between surviving a year. With chad you can not even design roll out plays to compensate for a weak offensive line.
