Bottom line is this. You can't win against good teams with a QB who throws 2 yard passes. Period. I mean they get a 3 and 9 and it's a concession down.
Just keep in mind that K.C. scored those two touchdowns against the Giants with the starting O-line playing against the Giants second team.
is this the only argument we'll hear against kellen clemens? im sure thats what testaverde supporters were saying before wonderboy took over. jesus christ this is getting old.
Thank you Mr. Exaggeration. Yes, we are well aware of your assertion that he has a stunt double throwing the football for him. Thank you for your brilliant contribution.
Does Pennington have a strong arm NO but he is a winner and right now that what we need. Not taking anything from Kelly but but him in now as the starter and kiss the playoffs goodbye.
Offensive line or no offensive line, I don't think we can come to any conclusions whatsoever about Pennington until he plays the Pats. Then, we can talk.
We still can't come to a conclusion after the Patriots game because he already has the built in Offensive line or Thomas Jones is not 100 percent excuse. There is always an excuse why he can't throw the ball when he has to do what ever other qb has to to win without a dominating defense.
I don't think there'd be a legit argument for takign him out if the team is winning. Only the people on the site that just outright hate Chad wuld want him out.
So many people want to defend Chad and put him as our default starter, but it seems his passion and fire are gone. Plus, it seems like they are starting to rally around Kellen. I say he starts game 3.
That is a huge leap Johnnysd. Don't mistake frustration with a lack of passion. Chad may well be frustrated but I don't believe for a minute his desire and passion to compete are gone. I admit he doesn't seem himself but man that's a leap.
I agree with you here, it's pre-season. Despite the fact that they charge us full price for tickets and parking, it's really a glorified practice. You don't rehab for two years and make it back off two surgeries (unprecedented) if you don't have fire and passion. For Clemens it's different. He doesn't get to play much, so hitting two bombs and scoring a TD is a big deal. He was happy and they were happy for him. If you're Chad and you're focused on getting ready for the season, you're not running out of the tunnel headbutting linemen anymore for a preseason game.
I believe that Pennington will start the first 7 games before being replaced if the Jets go either 2-5 or 3-4 vs. New England Patriots @ Baltimore Ravens vs. Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills @ New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles @ Cincinnati Bengals That would put Clemens in the best position, 2 home games, bye week, home game. vs. Buffalo Bills vs. Washington Redskins BYE WEEK vs. Pittsburgh Steelers @ Dallas Cowboys @ Miami Dolphins vs. Cleveland Browns @ New England Patriots @ Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs
We really ought to be no worse than 5-2 after seven games with that schedule. 6-3 at the bye would be, frankly, underwhelming. Really needs to be an 11 win season.
How true. Penny in my opinion has what it takes to take the Jets to another level. The problem though, the OL and DL's may not be up to task. I'll reserve any opinion uintil the season is 3 games in. I picked the Jets last year to go 10-6 based on the schedule and improved coaching. This year they will need to show some talent and be rid of key injuries to do the same. Defense may need time to gel. The Offensive line needs another key player.
I kind of paraphrased that, maybe I shouldn't have used the quotes, but that was pretty much what he said. There was more to it but I don't recall the whole quote and I didn't want to misrepresent it. I'm not sure what else he was supposed to say off of that performance. When you look at the preseason, the first game Chad didn't throw a ball, then he threw 10 in each of the next two games. It's really hard to draw too many conclusions from anything. Like I said in another thread, these are dressed up practices. If they didn't charge us full ticket price and parking and put it on TV, we wouldn't even be discussing any of it.
You know, in theory, Chad has never been given the full compliment of tools necessary for the Super Bowl as far as the complete team. Chad has had goodish teams under him at times, but certainly not great. I really think that is a fair point. For Chad to excel; he needs a balanced offense. Anytime, there is a situation or a team chemistry where Chad's arm is looked upon to lift the team, you can anticipate a recipe for disaster. Most importanly, Chad needs an outstanding Offensive Line. Without good protection, Chad is reduced to non-productivity very quickly. Where I am going with this is that I really would like to see the Jets develop some more before turning the reins over to Clemens. Just because Clemens can throw a deeper ball than Chad does not automatically make him a great QB. Chad works his butt off to make the most out of the tools he has - give the guy a chance. Now, if we are 1 - 5 (reg. season) and Chad is absolutley playing like crap; then yes, the time has come to test the Clemens waters. You know there was another guy on the NY Jets who wasn't looked at to do much, but he worked his butt off and made the most out of the tools he was given; does Wayne Chrebet bring back memories?
Also, you need to pass protect better than we are if you want to throw deep. Ken O'Brien had a rocket arm, but it takes a while for the WRs to get deep, so he got sacked a lot. Same with Vinny when we brought him back. There's more to throwing deep than just a QB winging it.
