In terms of run blocking he will be an upgrade over Kendall. Bigger, stronger and faster. As far a pass blocking goes. He is a liability. When he gets the pass blocking down he has potential to be a very good guard.
Yeah, he is a liability but you can teach pass blocking. You can't teach size or aggressiveness but you can teach pass blocking technique. All I know is if Revis, Harris and Bender become solid nfl players this draft will be great. I think Stucky will be a decent nfl player.
12 wins??? if so, thats means the jets will win the division. NOT A CHANCE IN HELL IN THAT PIPE DREAM HAPPENING!!! over evaluating the talent level on this team by a country mile, and then some. they will do well to come out with a winning season(9-7). no way is this a 12 win team. better take another look at some of the afc teams talent, and then re-evaluate....
he isn't an above average LT! up to this point, it's been sub par.... he's terrible at run blocking and not all that great at pass blocking. this is a guy that should have been able to sit on the bench a couple of seasons to learn and strengthen his upper body. i'm not saying bust, but he has a lot of short comings, mainly power/strength.
If Bender is going to start, Revis is going to start and Harris is either starting or first sub at LB, coupled with Stuckey making the team for sure, it's hard to knock the draft. Even with 7 picks, 3 starters and a solid contributor is a solid haul, let alone just 4 picks.
This has nothing to do with the game, but as I'm new to this game could someone please explain what a "Pooch Punt" is?
Short punt, normally from inside or close to field goal range, designed to back up the opposition almost to their own goalline.
Honestly I don't know what other people saw last night, but I thought Bender looked terrible on both running plays and passing plays. I think we're in a lot of trouble if this guy starts right now. It's not that he can't become a good player, he's just not ready right now. I'd rather they put Adrian Jones at that spot or sign someone else. Our OL depth is really awful.
It means purposely kicking the ball high and short as to pin an oppenent inside the 20 yd. line and not into the end zone as oppossed to kicking it as far as possible
The best part of the game was the Mosely hit on Feeley, sorry about his broken hand though, don't like to see anyone get hurt in preseason (or any game) Watch out Tommy Boy, you're up next!
Bender looked solid last night... against second string d lineman, some of the linemen he was going against were rookie free agents. That's a far cry from baltimore's d line, or the patriots.
I was pleasantly surprised with: SCHLEGEL - He hit the holes with confidence, took on guards and played well in space on passing downs and also tackled very well. Based on last nights play he is not an immediate cut, as I thought befroe the game, his paly should make the coaches look at him a little longer. NUGENT - This guy is $. Plus deep kickoffs..Very Nice! Hopefully he gets over his opening day disasters. 2 years 2 horrible games. POSCIAK - (#82 the TE from Wisconsin that was on IR last year). Being a big badgers fan I'm excited he is on the team. But putting bias aside, he blocks very well and can catches all thrown to him. It will be next to impoossible to make the team with Ryan not giing anywhere - their style of play are very similar. Maybe the practice squad. TUTT - Runs hard and down hill, sort of reminds me of Leon Johnson. Disappointments - DREW COLEMAN - Seem like he was playing with the thought of "Why am I out here I've made this team??" The TD pass was against him, all be it a beautiful pass, and the 2 point coversion was in his area of the zone coverage ......and can we NOT bring back CAVKA next year. A waste. He has become the '00's version of Allan Allen. Anyone else remember him??? A tall WR that was in camp like 3 straight years and caught not one pass..
you kidding? theres plenty of threads that tell exactly what Bricks problem is. there is reason to worry. not reason to label him a bust(not yet at least) but definitely reason to worry.
I am sayin' 8-9 with him healthy and no playoffs. It's riding on more than Jones' health. The only way we are winning 12 is if the D-line starts to play to a level as high as their pay rate, Vilma can get 150 tackles again, Chad starts to look sharp again, and the O-line gels and really shores up. Yeah there are threads....on a JETS board. Not exactly an impartial view. Any time a Jets fan calls NFL radio and bitches about Brick, the show hists, whose job is to be familiar with the entire league, say that Brick is already a top 32 LT in the league after one season. People have this negative view because McNeill had a really good season last year. Ferguson handled some of the best DEs in the league last season very well and only has trouble with a couple power rushers. They guy is doing well, not outstanding. I think this season and even next season will be when we can look to see how far h can develop....but then again it coudl take longer because we won't be able to hold a lot of weight until he gets a bit older. I don't think there's reason for concern yet....maybe reason for expactation o not look like a rookie.... Just keep things in perspective that's all......they're not calling Mario Williams a hall of famer yet either...and Reggie Bush isn't a full time starter so....
Stuckey ran sub 4.4 forty before breaking his foot. Many people complained about them having only 4 picks, but consider that they got 4 QUALITY players, going 4/4 in the draft, and throw in Thomas Jones, and this could be the best overall draft year, since Pennington,Ellis Abraham, and Becht.
