First of all, the D was horrible. We looked like crap. The pass rush was the worst i have EVER seen in jets history and Brady had so much time it was ridiculous. We also missed tackles barret on welker for the first touchdown. We could not stop the run. It was just ugly out there. The d-line needs a makeover or they need to step-up. Second. Our o-line had some struggles as expected. But it is their fault that chad got hurt. No excuses about youth. D-brick didnt perform. Clement struggled. Clearly this line needs more work as well. Third, The thing that really pissed me off was when the crowd cheered for clemens when chad got hurt. Yeah pennington haters, way to have no class. The funniest thing about it is that chad was our best player out there yesterday hands down. The numbers prove it. That drive with his foot taped and him limping on drop backs playing against the Pats D was amazing. He had guts. Watch what you wish for.
Barrett...Giving Welker a 5 yard cushion inside the 10?????? Ferguson, Getting Chad killed...... Moss 50 yards downfield, three guys in coverage, no one (DEEP SAFETY) playing a ball that was in the air 5 seconds????? Also Blame Schottenhiemer. The Jets have almost no plays dsgined exclusively to chip at the edges of the flats. (Think Paul Hackett). When you watch Indy play, dont watch Manning wing it 40 yards on a line. Watch how they run 2 and 3 guys offf one side of the line and then split someone out in the flat for a 3 yard catch with 3-6 yards open behind them. Baker caught exactly ONE like that yesterday.
The defense was awful. The only way to beat Brady is to knock him on his ass (like we did in November) otherwise he's going to kill you. Then again with the time their O-Line gave him any QB would have picked us apart. Also the last few weeks we've been worrying about the left guard spot. I watched Adrien Clarke a bit yesterday, and he actually played alright. Ferguson was the problem. He flat-out sucked. Finally, the fans cheering when Chad got hurt was embarrassing. I'm not a Chad apologist. I think his weak arm hinders us. But for people to cheer any player getting hurt (even if it was a Patriot) is just wrong. I don't care if the player is good or bad. The way he fought through it was pretty courageous. I love his heart, but he just doesn't have the tools to make us an elite team.
My sentiments exactly. If you have no pass rush on Brady and your offensive line does not play well, chalk up an L every time. We need to work on a lot this week. I do not think our team was as prepared to play football as I would have liked to see. Next week; physical D..........not easy by any means. We have had problems with the Ravens in the past, but it would be a great win if we can get it.
Thats why I like Hackett when he was here. We didnt have much spectacular, but we did have enough solid, indefensible plays, to sustain offense. Between that short slant pass, and the toss crack, you could put yourself in second and short enough to spread the defense from sideline to sideline, and THEN run the plays we normally run now. The other play that we seem to not have is to run two WR's down the same side, with the inside guy running right at the safety, freezing him as the outside WR comes open behind the safety allowing the QB to throw the rainbow down the middle....
our d line/ o line just suck...and the rest of our problems running/secondary all compound because of our lines.........maybe we go .500 this year
Get ready to see Tui or even Ratliff, cause Clemens is going to end up just like Pennington against the ravens d next week. He's going to get soul murdered out there -- the ravens D is going to waltz right through our o line and crush Clemens next week. Guaranteed. I just hope he doesn't get injured too badly, that could derail his young career.
