This guy gives Jets fans heartburn. Was it Buffalo or Willis? The passing game in Baltimore does not scare me. Question is, can we stop McGahee?
What you talkin bout Willis???? yea, the Jets will stop McGahee this week, but I still dont think we can pull this one out...the realist in me says we lose a low scoring game
It's got to be a fluke type thing. McGahee is a decent back but not a world beater. That the Jets have been burned by him so often probably means one of three things: 1. the Jets defensive schemes against Buffalo were flawed, trying to shut something else down and freeing up the running game. I kind of doubt this scenario given that Herm's 4-3 and Mangini's 3-4 both got shredded. 2. It's just one of those random things. If you put 3 decent backs up against the Jets twice a year the odds are one of them will look much better than he really is through random chance. 3. The Jets run D has been iffy for most of McGahee's career. I vote a mixture of 2 and 3.
They're not that bad. Think 8-8. Miami had 6-10 written all over them last year going into the season with no healthy QB better than Joey Harrington and no help on the line for Ronnie Brown.
I was more referring to the press having man-love for miami as their "sweatheart" pick last year. Plus, Baltimore seems to have caught the IR bug in week 1
The Ravens may have caught the IR bug but Buffalo stepped in the hive. It's amazing how fast 8-8 or 9-7 can turn in 5-11 or 6-10 when you lost half your starting defensive backfield in one game.
I'm eager to see this as well...... Mcgahee would get about a 3rd of his stats for the year playing us. He was so average against everybody but the Jets, it wasn't even funny.
He's had 14 100-yard rushing games and 5 were against the Jets. 2004 111 vs MIA 102 vs ARI 132 vs NYJ 100 vs STL 116 vs SEA 105 vs CLE 102 vs SF 2005 117 vs HOU 140 vs ATL 143 vs NYJ 136 vs NE 113 vs NYJ 2006 150 vs NYJ 125 vs NYJ
i dont know the Bills running game, just has torn the jets to shreds the past few years, with both Travis Henry and Mcgahee. Just like to point out Henry was never as good in Tennesee as in Buffalo.
I was standing in line for the bus after last week's game talking to some guy about next week's game. I said "They have McGahee and he's a Jets killer." He responded with "Who isn't?" And I thought that was a good point. What RB has not had a good day against the Jets? Sammy Morris looked good against the Jets last week. In conclusion, we can't stop McGahee.
Good point. I still think the Ravens are gonna force the run down the Jets throats, partly because they can and partly because that's all their offense can muster.
Are you kidding?! He had his best average per attempt in Tennessee (4.5) with a worse line...he is the real deal as long as he is healthy. That said, I would think McGahee's success was more based on Buffalo's run game than his exceptional surface-to-air jet busting prowess. If we can keep Maroney down, then we can do the same to him.
Come on, man, no he didn't. The commisioner even came out specifically and said the taping didn't have any effect on the outcome of this particular game. There's plenty of cheating fault to go to New England, and they probably aren't paying as hefty a penalty as they should but the Jets just flat out got handled last Sunday. Our lines suck and they have consistently since the offseason.
Vilma is the key! The key to stopping Willis is strong play by our linebackers, which hasn't happened in the games he has played against us. I don't believe anything will change this week. Vilma flat out sucked last week and he is not playing like the leader of our defence should. Hope he changes my mind this Sunday.
Vilma's not a high impact player even in a 4-3. He's just an excellent backstop to make sure the gainers don't happen and pretty good in coverage. Waiting for him to make big plays is wasted time. Watching him rack up double-digit tackles in a game is what you're looking for and he does that really well in a 4-3.
Good stats : The answer is NO! But contain him is a possibility. Lets say 109 yards could be considered containment ?
