I remember a bunch of Chad's interceptions last year were passes thrown to JMac when he failed to even fight for the ball. I wouldn't be surprised if he barely sees any other passes thrown his way for awhile.

That comment was really more tongue-in-cheek to begin with. Point being, we've had like 15 wide receivers cycle through the roster already. At some point, the club is going to have to pay attention to our actual lack of starting depth at other positions, rather than our 3rd or 4th string backups.

I'm all in favor of punching JMac's ticket out of town (and one to the jaw on the way out wouldn't be bad either), but I want to have the actual problem positions addressed before worrying about things like that.

Unless they have a deal in the background to move JMac for a lineman. Then I take back everything I've said.

Clowney is a guy you like to get.

You cant coach 4.36. And you certainly dont get it in FA...

Look, that's fair enough. I have no problem bringing in guys who can contribute. The problem I have is that we aren't addressing things that are critical to our success.

Right now, we're simply terrible on both lines. So far, I've seen no indication from the coaching staff or front office to even acknowledge the problem, much less look for a way to fix it.

As much as I've moved to the Darkside so early, I still haven't tanked the year yet. Missing the playoffs is fine. I never expected to be there anyway. However, going 4-12 or worse is pretty unacceptable for this team. Our schedule wasn't that weak last year.

I like speed, whether it be to remove Leon from the return duties before he gets hurt, or to get JMac's bags packed, but I still want to field a team that isn't guaranteed to lose every week.

Clowney may be talented, but right now, he's a luxury. Only desperate poor people purchase luxuries when they don't have a pot to piss in, nor a window to throw it out of. So my question is: has this organization already given up on this year? If so, there's lots of other things I can do with my Sunday afternoons the rest of the year.

    ???

Isn't signing someone off a practice squad like signing an UFA? He is probably getting the minimum salary or somewhere around it. It's like we got a free draft pick. I don't see how this was costly to us or a luxury?

I think, if we have an embarassing loss to the Giants on Sunday (likely), the organization can prove to me they haven't given up on this year by doing one thing: replacing Pennington. Otherwise, if they don't, they demonstrate they're not willing to make the difficult changes required to be a winner.

And THAT would bother me more than giving up on this season, because it's an indication that you can't or won't change your "consissent approach" no matter if you're an obvious loser with what you're currently doing.

What I'm saying is, if it becomes obvious that replacing Chad will not take place regardless of how obvious the change is needed, it not only does not bode well for this season, it bodes ill for judgement calls by this CS for many seasons to come. Replacing Chad may or may not work, but neither will the "consissent approach" if you're tanking.

Sorry, I didn't actually mean it like that. I know you weren't trying to argue. Just tired today.

Anyway, as for what I was saying, he's a luxury because his position is clearly our most deep. Picking up another WR while we need serious help on both lines, and possibly in the defensive secondary, just screams to me that the club is not serious about this season.

Now, obviously we're not picking up any great OT from someone's practice squad, but shouldn't we at least be bringing in bodies, if nothing else? And if we're not bringing in bodies for the positions where we have clear need, then why bring in anyone at all?

Again, this kid might be here so that Leon doesn't have to return kicks, which is very good. He might be here so we can actually dupe someone into taking JMac off our hands, which would be great. Regardless, until we being in guys to beef up our lines, I'm going to be extremely unhappy with anyone we do bring in.

As I said, it feels an awful lot like we've resigned ourselves to tanking the season. That's wholly unacceptable.

I'm with you bro. And I said basically the same thing in the "Should Mangini be fired if we are 4-12 and he hasn't started Clemens" thread.

If he runs a 4.3 then he is being brought in for the impending Qb Change. A fast receiver with Chad at the helm is a waste. (Please Reference Santana Moss).

Ted Ginn is faster and Miami took him at #9 overall. What is he worth? Nothing.
