I would like to see how many 4th quarter comebacks Troy Aikman had, I bet it is pretty low since they dominated the game going away. What the hell does this have to do with anything?
How about you use Tom Brady as an example for Comebacks. Comebacks mean the game is not over if you are losing in the 4th or 3rd Qtr. Most Qb's Unlike Chad haev a chance to comeback and win the game with a 10 point deficit. If we are down with Chad Game over!
Use Elway in the 80's, the broncos were always behind in the 4th quarter and he had lots of comebacks, how many superbowls did they win? He could not win until the had a better team around him and have very few comebacks after that. It is not how a QB is judged.
The 49ers were the Team of the 80's then he had to deal with better Dallas and Bill teams in the Early 90's! They were always in the game with Elway unlike Chad.
Table 1. Top 10 quarterbacks at comebacks since 1996 Rank Quarterback Wins Losses 1 Jake Plummer 19 28 2 Peyton Manning 19 29 2 Vinny Testaverde 19 29 4 Tom Brady 13 8 5 Jon Kitna 15 23 6 Kerry Collins 17 30 7 Donovan McNabb 12 15 8 Marc Bulger 10 5 9 Jake Delhomme 10 12 9 Jay Fiedler 10 12 Besides Manning, Brady, and maybe Mcnabb do you want these QB's on your team? I am not talking about over Pennington, I am saying do you want Jon Kitna as your starting QB. BTW, the only ones to win the SB, Manning and Brady.
I think CP is the second best Jets QB. He is an outstanding individual whose time has come. There is just no zip on his the ball. We need someone to force the defense to play the entire field. Defenses are play shallow and are jumping our receivers? routs. They also play 8/9 man front. This causes our OL many blocking problems. I can?t see us making the playoff this year. I think it?s time for Clemens to start. By start him we?ll have a handle on any QB problem prior to next year?s draft. :jets:
That is incorrect as of right now. Young will pass Pennington soon enough, though. By my quick count last night Pennington has directed six 4th quarter comebacks. Young has directed four. Week 12 2006 Giants winning 21-0 entering 4th quarter Titans win 24-21 Week 13 2006 Colts up 14-10 after 3 quarters Titans take 17-14 lead in 4th Colts tie the score Titans win 20-17 in overtime Week 14 2006 Texans lead 14-13 after 3 quarters Titans eventually take 20-17 lead Texans tie the score Titans win in overtime 26-20 Week 16 2006 Bills up 29-20 entering 4th quarter Titans win 30-29 Some of you mentioned a telecast where it was reported Young has directed 8 or 9 game-winning drives in the 4th quarter. That number is wrong. (Maybe they were combining his college career, as well?) He's got four 4th quarter comebacks in his NFL career. Young had another game where he led his team on a game-winning 4th quarter drive which was not technically a comeback. In Week 6 last year, the Titans were leading Washington 22-14 entering the 4th quarter. The Redskins tied in up at 22 after a Portis touchdown and Moss conversion. Young was behind center on a 30-yard drive (26 rushing yards by Travis Henry) which ended with a FG by Rod Bironas at the 5:11 mark. The Titans won 25-22. While it certainly counts as a game-winning drive, in my book it is not a 4th quarter comeback due to the fact the Titans never trailed in the 4th quarter.
Where are u getting your facts from you have been pwned twice now, maybe you should stop posting in this thread.
I would take any of them except Fielder over what we have now. What is the common denominator in that list? Every single one of them can or could throw the ball downfield.
Plummer, got benched then quit = Someone you want leading your team Vinny: Good for a few years when Parcells made him throw to the backs more so he didn't throw as many picks. Jon Kitna= journeyman QB that has never won anything Kerry Collins= how many teams released him? Marc Bulger = really hasn't done anything and that is in the AFC west Jake Delhomme = below average without Steve Smith Jay Fiedler = sucks Take your anti chad glasses of and look at the list realistically. It is one thing to blame people for being homers, but it is just the same to be a hater.
Saying Chad went dowhill since the playoff game against Oakland is preposterous, and makes me wonder if you really watch Jets games. Every qb has bad games. Chad was excellent after that game, until his 1st shoulder surgery. Since then, its been downhill. He had pretty good years in 2003 and 2004. 2004 he had very nice stats and in 2003 his stats were ok but are skewed because of an awful 5 pick game against the pats, which is not that embrassing considered manning threw 4 picks that year in the playoff game against the Pats.
The premise of that list was who would you want on your team to have a chance to bring you back from a 4th quarter deficit. I don't care what their personal problems were or how bad the teams were they played on. I still say I would want any one of them except Fielder over what we have now if we are behind in the 4th qtr.
To me, the point of the thread was to trash Pennington because he hasn't had very many 4th quarter comebacks so he is a terrible QB and the QB's who have are great. Look at the QB's I brought out of the list, do you want these QB's leading your team? If I had to pick a QB that I wanted in the 4th if we were behind, it would be Favre, Manning, then Brady in that order, but i don't think that is the point of the thread.
i would like to see the stats for being at least 7 pts down entering the 4th quarter. i personally do not buy anything less than 7 pts jil
nice work cakes. its good to know that things being said will be checked and verified. that helps us all be better fans who dont sit there telling people something that is bull just because we saw it on the internet!!!
As others have pointed out, that stat is wrong. I think most agree that because in back to back games he's thrown game killing interceptions, and he isn't making enough plays to counteract those interceptions, Clemens should be the starting QB now. We don't need to make up other reasons just to kick the guy when he's down.
I noticed that too over the years. It always bothered me to see us at the end of a game where we need a TD and we always come up short. Penningtion never had the arm that could drive us the down the field in such short of time.
