It's easier to lay the blame on one person, that's why the QB (and to an extent, the HC/OC/DC) gets all the blame most of the time. In the mind of the fan, it's easier to change the QB than it is to bring in 5-7 new defensive players. Especially when we all think the solution to the QB problem is already on the roster.

    Your statements contradict themselves.

You feel the defense should carry the lion's share of the blame and you have a case.

Others believe Chad should carry the lion's share of the blame and they have a case.

There is no obvious, clear-cut right and wrong here - both contributed. To come out with this bombastic nonsense about others not understanding the game is silly. We're talking about opinions here.

There are many things wrong with the above statement. It has nothing to do with laying blame. Look at this critically:

1.) First off as bad as the defense has been, when they are needed to make the stop they have stepped up and made the big play. Case in point Revis against Buffalo and the 3 and out last week. So even if the D has been bad, and it has, the Jets have been in games with more than ample opportunity to win them.

2.) This defense is at most 2-3 players away. Unfortunately they are the most important parts of it. NT,pass rushing OLB and another DE. However that is only 2-3 players at most.

3.) Chad has sucked. He has flat out lost the last 2 games. Five back breaking picks tends to put a QB on the hotseat. It is not like he has been running for his life bach there. The pass protection has been at worst adequate and at best he has enough time to knit a sweater and then throw a duck.

4.) The lack of a pass game or the fact that the Qb will make at most 2-3 passes longer than 20 yards, allows opposing D's to stack the line and jump routes. (Also those passes may get a WR decapitated) So if our O-line, which has a problem run blocking as it is, has to go against 8-9-10 guys, good freaking luck.

5.) Provided there is no interception, the majority of drives are 3 and outs. This allows the other teams offense which probably has a QB that can stretch the field to gas the Jets D. By gas when you are on the field a large majority of the time, a D with not a lot of depth up front tends to get worn out.

So the fact that the QB sucks right now, is making all the other domino's fall. Sad but true that a QB that can at least make a throw that is required of an NFL QB can at least partly fix 4 of the 5 things above.

Think about how helpful it would be to get 10 men out if the box, not have 80% of the drives be 3 and outs or jumped route td passes to the opposing cb and/or allow the offense to give the defense a break for a change............... dare to dream.

Very good post MP - someone please just close the thread now. I don't know about that 80% stat you threw out there, but point taken.

I don't disagree with you, except that the poll on the first page is exactly about placing blame. That's specifically what it asked. I just don't think you can blame one person. Chad has pretty much sucked, and I have been very vocal about it on the board myself, but that poll is a bit lopsided IMO. I think Chad's bad play is masking just how little the D has progressed from last season. They played well in the first half last week, but I think that had more to do with Eli's complete ineptitude than anything else. Look no further than the pick he threw at the end of the first half. They have been just as bad as Chad this season. My post above was more about my overall disappointment with the D than a defense of Chad. I do think better QB play, resulting in more offensive T.O.P. can help the defense, but I just do not think they are very good right now regardess.

Solomon Wilcots, commentating the game, is a Chad proponent despite all these shitty games, he is an NFL Radio guy I listen to every day......he always makesa good argument forPennington even when I disagree...

...well, after seeing that, I guess these radio guys might have a point and not be the dumbass talking heads you all think they are......NFL game experience....it is a reason to pay attention
