With the whole Vilma thing and Chad being the starter, I am truly not sure if this team can win more than 4 games. You add that in with the fact that many players don't like him could Mangini be gone at the end of the season? I think that if they don't get a win soon guys like Vilma and Ellis are really going to complain to Woodt and Tannenbaum.
You don't can a coach after one bad year. This isn't like when Kotite followed up 3-13 with 1-15. He gets one more shot to turn the boat around... if it continues to sink, then CYA!
I believe if the Jets collapse at any point this season and wind up with the commensurate 3-13 or worse record he'll be fired. I expect there's a good chance Tannenbaum goes with him in that scenario. God help us if the Jets collapse and that doesn't happen because that will signal that Woody is on the Leon Hess track to decrepitude.
Woody and Tanny will give Mangini at least one or two more drafts to implement his system. . . is that a mistake or not. . . Who knows?
no, but he should be, which only further exemplifies the incompetence and lack of football leadership in this organization. the great Patriots duplication was a misguided philosophy but the organization doesn't have the sense to know when it has failed. nobody wants to admit yet that it hasn't worked, and Tannenbaum doesn't want to fire his copy boy buddy.
Woody and Tans will give Mangina a huge raise and a 5 year contract extension no matter if this team goes 1-15 or 4-12. They love to reward mediocrity.
I disagree. Kotite's 3-13 signaled an incompetence that should have gotten him fired. his 1-15 mark then solidified it for anyone who had doubts. willingly accepting another bad season, just to be sure, is ridiculous. when a team collapses from 10-6 to 2 or 3 wins, it signifies a complete lack of ability in those running the team, in this case the coach and GM.
Yeah, however the assumption at this point HAS to be that the Jets are going through their worst sequence of the season, and have been for 4 games, and things will improve a bit soon. If that's not the case then Eric Mangini and Mike Tannenbaum have destroyed a mediocre team in two years flat, turning it into a pile of crap in record time. That would be clear grounds for a firing. The Jets, even coming off of 2005, were not a dead-end team with no hope as they appear to be now.
Mangini would not be fired after his second year . If Mangini were to leave the Jets it would be just like an Al Groul or Belly move with a Letter or outright quiting. I dont think any of the above will happen. Three or 4 years will be his window!
You people are crazy, are you seriously comparing Matt Millen of all people??? Millen makes Isiah look like an average GM. Geez when the blood rushes to the brain you need to step away from the keyboard.
Again, he's not going anywhere after year two of the rebuilding process...in a related story, He's acting like a complete and utter Fucktard!
what rebuilding process? that is just an excuse. Mangini took over a team that made the playoffs in 3 of the 5 season prior to him, and made it in his first season, showing that the team was still capable of being a playoff team. this isn't a rebuilding process, what this coach and GM are in the midst of now is a complete destruction of the team process. instead of adding to a pretty good team and further building it, they have subtracted from it and completely destroyed it. this team didn't need to be rebuilt, it needed to be added to. the fact is this regime has created the rebuilding process by destroying a decent team to begin with.
why not? we did it to Herm and the worst part about getting rid of Herm was all the injuries we had that year. ManDUMBASS has a healty team and look at what he doing.
Id have to go with Jetblue on this one. I haven’t seen anything that appears as a re-building effort on our team. They signed a career back up as defensive end and gave him a boat load of money. They signed old out of football defensive players (Or at least brought them into camp) who had no shot of making the team. They let go of a running back who gave it to us @ the meadowlands (Ward). They wouldn’t pony up for our experienced proven offensive tackle -keeping in mind that they over paid for an unproven defensive end. They drafted a quarter back of the future that probably has no future with this team. The only thing that can be said about this coaching staff that is good is they have drafted well and those draft picks are contributing!
