Never been to a Jets game. But I do know that a sucky stadium is a sucky stadium...not much you can do about that.
With Jets fans it is not so much the stadium identity crisis; it the fact that we all feel like the husband who haven't gotten a good blow job from their wife in about 20 years.
For the amount of money they are throwing into this new stadium, and the high possibility of PSLs, we better get more than fancy stadium lighting.
What do you expect from a New York team playing all their home games on the road in a swamp in New Jersey? The "experience" may be a little better if you don't drink the water.
You have to say that everything they say is pretty much true. It's a hideous stadium built on a marsh basically for it's proximity to midtown. You have to tailgate cuz the food selection is horrendous. But it's not like any of this is going to stop me from going to a game.
Unfortunately nearly everything in the article is true. Our stadium situation is a joke, and although I've only been to one other NFL stadium (Miami), I would be willing to bet that a Jets game at Giants stadium is deserving of being dead-last (or at least in the bottom 5).
Our Stadium atmosphere is better when both teams are good but we suck right now so obviously the atmosphere is affected. either way it's comical we would be voted last. We shouldn't even be in the bottom half.
As a former season ticket holder, who has moved to greener pastures, it is comical to watch all of you get defensive about the article. Maybe it is time that you hold the ownership responsible for putting out a crappy product. Not only does the team suck, tailgating is now a chore for most people, the food available is crap and their are no other local facilities. Or of course you could just accept second rate service while paying some of the highest prices in the US.
Physically, our situation sucks... The stadium is very basic, and decked out in Blue & Red... The concessions are bland and unreasonably expensive, the parking sucks and the tickets cost a fortune... That being said, the atmosphere with the fans and the tailgating scene, in my opinion, is deserving of being in the top 10... That doesn't mean that the physical scene isn't bad enough to be last in the league...
Just another reason I supported the WSS! "There is no neighborhood" quotes SI about Giants Stadium and the Meadowlands...and that puts a damper on things. No place to get pumped up nearby except the parking lot - which is strewn with broken bottles and drunk tailgaters. The food is awful inside - so you can't blame the tailgaters, and it cost a fortune for CRAP! The roads in and out suck - and are always congested - and off times the parking NAZI-s send you where you DON'T want to go... Remind me again why the WSS was a "bad" idea?
This is the first year we are healthy and suck in over a decade. They have been putting a good product on the field. Tailgating is a chore b/c they are building a new Stadium, if that wasn't going on tailgating would be easy. The food available is crap- do you go to a football game to eat or to watch football? I really don't care wht it looks like, sure I'd rather not have it in Giants colors but every seat in that Stadium is a good seat- that is what's most important to me as a fan. I go to games to watch the Jetsplay not to eat crappy food so idon't care about concessions. Parking sucks NOW b/c of the construction of the ne Stadium. The tickets have skyrocketed the last decade and the will continue to go up every year until they force out the real fans and it's all corprorate.
This article is a joke. First of all, you can't rank a stadium experience based on the performance of a team. If the Jets played in the Taj Majal this year, they would still get 1 out of 10 for that category. Stupid. The neighborhood category is also crap. If the tailgating is good, then that is your pre-game "neighborhood." The only time the neighborhood would matter is if tailgating were not an option - such as with the proposed WSS stadium. Once you are inside the stadium, does it matter where the stadium is??? This is not baseball. Football stadiums are closed, which does not result in those "wonderful" views of the skyline. Once the game starts, it doesn't matter where the stadium is located. The rest of the poor ranking has to do with the inconviences we are all putting up with as they construct the new stadium. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Let's see how this poll comes out in 3 years. Until then, I don't put much stock in it.
