i value a mans word not what might be hidden behind it.he said he was staying just like many athletes and coach's befiore him.he still took off. and i dont pay for woman,i pay FOR THEM TO LEAVE WHEN I DONE!!!!!!!
We can play that game or call a spade a spade. Look at what Dick Juron did this season with an injury riddled roster, a rookie QB, etc. I guess he should be coach of the year.
Herm mismanaged the team, gave out ridiculous contracts to guys clearly well past their prime, had lousy talent evaluation and utilization, was ultra consrvative (Hackett was only following orders), threw numerous people under the bus - DC's, OC's, kickers - everyone but himself, essentially drove the team into the ground, sucked it dry of talent like a fucking parasite, then lied and left. How can you have ill-feelings for a guy like that? The only thing saving Herm from complete NY fan-base angst is our backing into 3 playoff appearances. You will never in all your football days see any coach tell the QB to take a knee in a playoff game effectively backing up the kicker - the dumbest coaching call I have ever seen.
I chose mixed for the poll becauise overall I have mixed feelings towards Herm. I think he did a good job here but I don't like the way he left--to me it makes a lot of his other bullshit look phony. But he did win here, which is no small task. But on Sunday he is the enemy and he's coming back to play against our franchise that he bolted, so I will have some venom for him. And I sit on the visitors side of the field.
Herm's future with the Chiefs could hinge on if he wins and how the team looks doing it. In some weird, sadistic way, I hope he wins, so I can watch him run the Chiefs into the ground more than he already has in the '08 season.
How exactly has Herm run the Chiefs into the ground? it's Herm's fault he doesn't have a QB? it's Herm's fault LJ got hurt? it's Herm's fault KC lost 2 HOF caliber Ol the last 2 offseasons? This team is in complete rebuiding mode w/ an inept GM who has presided over a franchise for the last 14 years w/o a single playoff win.
I was never a big fan of Herm's in game coaching, but you have to give him some credit considering the overall lack of success of the franchise historically. If you grade him against Jets coaches all-time, as opposed to his division opponents (ie Bellicheck), he comes out pretty well.
Herm's camp marshmallow training is directly proportional to the propensity of injuries incurred on the team over time. If the Chiefs are in re-building mode I pity them. Herm is uncapable of building a team through talent evaluation, FA market, and drafting, while preserving cap. I'm sorry, I don't like the guy. I look at the way the Jets are now, and I put a great deal of blame on him.
So the defender that landed on LJ's lower leg hurt LJ b/c of the TC they went through? OK. I remembr hearing how it was herm's soft camp hat ledto or slow starts. We had a tough camp this year- how did that work out? why did we always run out of gas late in games? w/ Herm's "Marshmallow camps" we never ran out of gas and we got better as seasons went on. Herm is NOT a GM! He doesn't control what players are drafted or signed so who cares if he can't build a team. is job is to coach them and win, something he's done quite well w/ in his 7 years especially here.
Herm's alright. He rode a good thing until the wheels feel off, then he moved on. Typical stuff in the NFL. Players do it, so why not a coach. He gave us some good years and some great playoff memories -- Jets history is not exactly filled with a ton of that.
Because he's the damn HC. I find it hard to believe that KC's GM suddenly stopped being able to build a team or draft players once Herm got there. The HC's have input into the makeup of their teams. But you don't want to admit that. You just want to pin it on the GM's or anyone else that he's worked with when things don't go right, but heap all of the praise on Herm when they do.
Our O line was definitely not "old but fine". 2005 the line was the most atrocious I had ever seen. Ty Law was absolutely awful. Dont you remember the 10 yard cushions every play and then he would still get beat? He was an awful signing. Donnie Abraham was trash. Erik Coleman was and is a JAG. The cap situation was totally mishandled and we had guys like David Barrett making 5M a year.
Negative for the way he left the team. I was glad to see him go, but mister sincerity lost all credibility with the way he did it. The man, with a big assist from Bradway, left the Jets with a lack of talent. 2005 was so bad because we had nobody ready to come off the bench when the OL started falling. He was terrible at evaluating talent, and stubbornly played vets, even when they were way beyond their prime.
NFL is a business, we all change jobs when we see the ship sinking. Like many of us, he went in, learned as much as he could and moved on. Like I said, he gave us some good exciting years, something that's rare with this franchise. No ill will here.
As much as we might think we know about Herm's departure there are probably parts to that story that the public will never find out about. For that reason I kind of hold judgement on him because he always preached discipline, respect, honesty etc. His departure seemed really odd in general. As a head coach he was average. We all know he was a great motivator blah blah blah but he was also awful during the game. It's interesting because we seem to have the opposite with Mangini (still too early to tell though). Will I boo him? Of course, what real Jet fan wouldn't. We are 3-12 right now, we need to have SOMETHING to have fun with this Sunday.
