I received this in my in box this AM. I met this fellow 1 year ago on a cruise him & I were passengers on from Galveston TX. When I saw his NYJ hat I stopped him & asked him if he was a NYJ fan? He said he was so I told him I have been one since 65. I then asked him what he thought would happen to the NYJs in 07. Naturally he sounded like Rob A or most of the others on this board. SB here we come! I told him it would be best for us if we wish to continue to enjoy each others company that I keep my views to myself as I mostly disagreed with his evulation. So when I got this this AM I was really shocked because it is a total 180 from his opinion just last Feb. BTW this letter was mailed to Jets Confidential.

    Dear JC:

As a frustrated Jet fan, I suggest that we clean-house of the players that do not fit into the team?s future, either due to age or incompatibility:

    - Jon Vilma: trade for Roy Williams, the tall lanky receiver needed inside the red-zone or for a first day draft pick

    - Dwayne Robertson: trade for first day pick or move to outside and develop into 3-4 end

    - Chad P: trade for first day pick; yes, he is serviceable, but will never take us to the SB, unless we have a super defense, great running game and much better O line. I realize that not everybody is sold on KC, but let?s give him a full year, with an improved O-line, running game and then determine what he brings to the table.

    - Laveranues Coles: I love this guy, but despite his toughness/leadership and good hands, we need a speedy, tall receiver. LC and Jerricho are the same type of receivers and one has to go, whichever can bring back the most in return.

    - Shaun Ellis: has proven that he is better 4-3 vs 3-4 end, so let?s see what we can get.

    - Bryan Thomas: not sure what happened in 2007 and we won?t get much in return, so prefer to keep him for another year

    - David Barrett, Justin McCareins, Victor Hobson, Andre Dyson, Anthony Clement, Erik Coleman Joe Kowalewski: release or get whatever number of cases of footballs we can get for them.

    - Joe Kowalewski/Jason Pociask: Matt Chatham/Brad Kassell: release at least one or both sets of players, bring in faster, more athlectic TE/LBs. I know that these guys fit the smart, high-character, overachieving, good special team players fancied by Tangini, but let?s get better players on the roster.

I know the above sounds radical, but we may as well ?blow it all up? & start anew with more athletic and younger players that fit the new system. I do not expect to win a championship in next two years, but maybe with a stronger foundation, we will become more competitive, as the Pats and Colts start aging in next few years.

So rather than post your own strategy as to what we should do, you post that of some random guy you met on a cruise?

    Way to man up....

Wow, how would you like to be the guy that gets stuck on a cruise talking Jets football with Champ?

Koz you should know what has to be done just like any knowledgeable NYJ does. As you constantly state why the same thing over again right? I believe KS & I solved the D. When he feels up to the it we will do the O. I posted that because he sent that to JI & I presumed that some of this board subscribe to it giving them a heads up if it was printed.

Only name I don't agree with on that list is Andre Dyson. He was very good his first year here, but got hurt. If nothing else he is veteran leadership and experience on a very young secondary. I see no reason to let him go. Hell stick him in as the 3rd or 4th DB.

I would jump and try to swim back. I'd rather take my chances with the sharks than listen to champ.

If you read my original post once I knew his views I told him I do not want to ruin your cruise & did not discuss the NYJs anymore. Now if you notice he has turned around 180 degrees & would now agree with my views. At least he is man enough to say it as well as smarten up & see the trees from the forest

Great insight...pretty realistic to do in one off-season.

That sounds like it would be really painful, and possibly illegal.

There you go putting words in my mouth again. You asked me for positives on the season and I listed Harris' emergence and Revis' improved play. Just because you added Rhodes doesn't mean those were all of the positives I found or that 8 out of 11 players need to be replaced.

I'm actually surprised you found anything nice to say about any of our players.

The defense was just so bland in the beginning of the year. It wasn't agressive enough IMO. I think that had more to do with our DC than the actual players though. After the bye the defense was more aggressive and we saw definite signs of improved play.

We need more beef at NT and a feared OLB as our passrusher. You can't have superstars at every position, and you can't do it overnight either.

So let me get this straight. You stop HIM on the cruise. You introduce yourself as a fellow Jet fan and ask his opinion on 07 etc. He kindly shares, then you tell him you won't share your opinion because it will ruin his vacation? Thats fukin funny Champ.:rofl2:

what does it say about the state of the NYJ when everyone is calling for a "blow it up" and/or "youth movement" approach when NEWSFLASH: THE JETS ARE THE SECOND YOUNGEST TEAM IN THE ENTIRE NFL.

i guess it says that our veteran players really stink.

I see you were shocked when he changed his opinion. Are you sure you didn’t talk about how bad you think the Jets are. I find it impossible that you kept your negative feelings to your self. It’s impossible for you to keep your opinion to yourself that is seen every time you reply to a post. If it’s positive you sound in with the flip side of the coin, if it’s negative you join in with your keen perspective from the dark side. So please re-state that you were shocked that your negativity washed off onto a once optimistic Jets fan and now he is in line with your sunny outlook on our Beloved Jets.

Yep I sure did. All I told I am sorry my views are way, way different then yours so it would be best to not discuss them during the cruise. Sure I was suprised he made the 180 because he was so, so , so strong sure that we were SB bound last season.
