Your Stadium in theory? you got that right, in theory. If you think the Giants practicing in the parking lot still makes it your stadium then you go ahead and believe that if you want, but the Jets own 50% of the stadium, it's not Giants Stadium anymore, I don't care where the Giants practice. And talk like this is exactley why I'd love to punch Woody in his stupid head for going in on this deal.
I've got a funny story to tell you and I know you haven't heard it because you're probably not a regular poster here. I was at that Giants-Jets game in which the Giants were in contention for a playoff spot and the Jets were not, so we were basically in the spoiler category for this game. So I'm sitting next to an elderly couple who are obvious Giants fans. He's dressed in his silly little blue and red cardigan sweater with his penny loafers and Nordstrom's Tommy Bahama navy blue slacks and his wife is sitting next to me in her equally as absurd, totally over-dressed for the occasion, foppish attire. And the Jets win. So she turns to me after teh game and says to me, "Why did your Jets have to do that (win)? This game didn't mean anything to them, but it meant us getting into the playoffs and now we're not in the playoffs! Why couldn't your Jets just let us win?" And she was serious, mind you. So, I was so shocked at what she said that I didn't know what to say, so I just looked at her and blurted out, "You've got to be shitting me, lady!" I mean, this is the kind of naive old farts you guys have got for fans. If she knew one iota about football or any sport for that matter, she'd know that nobody "let's" somebody win just because it means more to the other team. And she was really f@cking serious too, that's what made it so God damned funny.
The thing is, the guy is right. The stadium is going to be surrounded by acres and acres of Giants stuff. So, we're going to drive into the meadowlands on game day and the stadium itself is going to be lit up green and say Jets on it, but you're going to see Giants in huge letters on all kinds of buildings and fields surrounding it. When the Giants play, is it going to say Jets anywhere? No. Is it a big deal? Not that much, but still.
I think you're right. I know I was definitely pulling for the Giants to win because I really wanted the Pats to lose. But I like this Giants team. I went to the Jets-Giants game this season, and had no problems with any fans at all. In contrast, I was rooting for the Bills in the 90 SB which came down to Norwood choking, though I respect that the Gints had a great gameplan that day and slowed down a very potent offense. But I am really happy for the Giants and they played a game for the ages- especailly on defense. It was a great game to watch, though I was concerned they were still losing 7-3 in the second half after dictating the tempo of the game. Congrats to the Giants fans- a well deserved win.
This reminds me of basically every Giants tailgate I've ever seen. Two old people sitting at a fold-out table drinking wine.
Thats a good story, I guess thats what you get when your the older team? half your fanbase in now old and senile. I'm glad we are the younger and hipper team.
Well, yeah, because the Giants won. I was at the game too. No one messed with me, but I'm kinda big and scary. However, had the Jets won and I was jumping around I'm sure someone in blue woulda said something.
There is no doubt that the older fan is a big part of our fanbase but it has been declining in recent years, whether it be prices, or the parking situation, or the young fans taking over but any game that is not 1pm is filled with young Giants fans.....My seats go back to Yankee Stadium and I usually have 6 young fans in the seats As far as the Stadium yes its going to be a "50/50" split but I for one know I would rather have my own Giants Stadium that is 100% dedicated to the Giants just like The Linc, Lambeau, and Qwest Field.......it sucks for both fan bases but I guess we are going to have to deal with it.
Another stupid move by the Giants. Blinded by pigheadedness and egocentricity, your owners chose that ragweed pollenated, malaria-infested parking lot in the middle of the f@cking swamp as an ideal location for your "practice facility." The wind never stops there, nor do the constant pollutants that the wind carries, like ragweed spores and punk pollen that constantly invade your nostrils. Your Giants better enjoy the constant drone of 18-wheelers over the voices of your coaches at TC too, because that's all you ever see or hear out there. The place is a no-man's land. There's nothing beautiful or classy about it. It was only selected by the Giants to perpetuate their illusion of themselves as "owners" of the turf. But they've f@cked themselves with this philosophy finally, and for that, I thank them. Your training facility is a joke of a location. Compare that to our 20-acre wooded parcel the state hand picked for us up in Florham Park. There's no comparison. We'll have a park-like setting surrounded by trees and green area in a quiet, classy environment worthy of world class attention. Dumb move, my friend. Totally ridiculous choice, but knowing your owners, who else would insist on such a stupid, pigheaded move?
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahahahahaahhaa The Giants have practiced on site for years and I don't think the trucks stopped our SB Title run now did it? The Giants are practicing on site because its CONVENIENT to be able to walk down the road to your main headquarters not get on a bus to go 20 mins away......the Jets were against the idea of the Giants staying on site but the Giants basically said ummmmm I dont think so........Again if it wasnt for Wellington bringing the team to the Meadowlands and if it wasnt for Wellington allowing the Jets to play in the Meadowlands there would be NO MEADOWLANDS so as a Giants fan I am happy to know our entire headquarters and training facility will be on site!!!!
Enough with the friggin ROOF. Its not arena football. Football is a game to be played in the elements.
"Enogh with the friggn ROOF. Its not arena football. Football is a game to be played in the elements." DING DING DING
This is what we have been reduced to. The north jersey Jets guy arguing with the north jersey Giants guy that his team is in the beautiful part of north jersey, while the north Jersey Giants guy counters that his team is in the convenient part of north jersey. Thanks Woody.
Hey we've been happy in Jersey you guys are the ones who tried to run to Manhattan so everyone in the upper deck could recieve sushi waitress service.
I was tailgating for hours and walked thru several lots and had no problems before the game. The guy I was sitting with was big and crazy and no one said anything to him regardless of the score, which changed during the game. And he was pretty loud when the Jets were winning. Most of the Giants fans were leaving halfway thru the 4th Q anyway, which I found to be ridiculous. "Messing" with people whether they are big and scary or not is highly overrated and kind of dumb, imo. There's a lot more venom when I go to Miami-FSU games than at any pro games.
To bad were sharing o well. Now we dont have to talk about it anymore. NOT going to nyc, no roof, lets hope no psl's . Next topic......
