Vernon "the ghost" Gholston ... that will be his nickname when he closes in on a QB- he just appears like a ghost in the backfield... hey Tom Brady-- Boo

He has run an unoffical 4.64 40 time for a 6'3" 266 monster
He has put up 37 reps on the bench, tied with Jake Long for the combine lead
He has a 35" vertical, thats pure explosiveness

UPDATE:: His broad jump clocked in at 10'4" COMARISON- Gaines Adams had a 9'4", he was 4th overall last year

UPDATE::: DEFENSIVE DRILLS- He will be suspect in coverage coming out of the draft, but in time it will get better- ball skills need improvement, hips look a little tight but hands didnt look bad with the catch... still worth that #6 if you ask me.

    Don't ignore Quentin Groves here.

4.52 at 252 is nasty. He also threw up 30 reps.

I really like the DE/OLB prospects this year...

Groves is growing on me, i like his explosiveness and athleticism.

either of these guys will do as our pass rusher

Well the way the top 2, Long and Gholston are performing today, Gholston could be taken before Long, this isnt a knock on Long's numbers, but just a sheer point about how well gholston has performed. it wouldnt surprise me in the least to see Gholston go top 5 and Long to slide out of it because his workout just wasnt as good as Gholstons...

^Long is 10 pounds heavier their performances are pretty equal, Long solidified his place

Even though his combine looks better, Long is still the better overall prospect... since our need is D over offense... look for Gholston and not McFadden as our pick--- Gholston will be at 6, hes good but hes not top 1-5 money.

how could he not be 1-5 money? 4.64 MONSTER puttin up 37 reps and 35" veritcal. AND has experience as a 3-4 OLB. Honestly I'm happy with gholston, dorsey, chris long, or even take jake long and quentin groves in the second

I believe he is well worth top 5 money. I think when you draft Gholston you are essentially getting the next great stand up pass rushing OLB. In the mold of a Demarcus Ware or a Shawn Merrimen.

Its his trouble at Point of Attack and his motor is still in question... I'm fearing that football isnt life in his heart-- he'd list other loves above it... those things will keep you out of the top 5.... plus what other 3-4 team is taking him before us?? None.

The combine is a measurable of athleticism, not overall football talent.. hes as athletic as they come, but its whats on tape that matters-- whats on tape is still 5-10 talent, not 1-5.

I hope someone other team doesn't pick him up and us miss out on him. But if so the other talent that would fall to us would be good. Chris long is nothing but awesome and either one would be great to have. Ellis isn't big enough but he is quick and talented. I will go nuts when/if we get Gholston he is going to crush quaterbacks for years and I just hope it is with us.

Plus, his coverage skills are a major question. I watched Ohio State a lot this year, and he looks lost when he needs to drop back. He's interesting as a pass rusher, but I hope he isn't just one dimensional. Sadly, the rest of our defense is too poor to support a one dimensional player.

Almost every DE/OLB's coverage skills are a major question coming out.

It's up to the coaching staff to coach him up there, cause they'll have to do it with Chris Long, Quentin Groves, and everyone else anyway.

I have no idea why Gholston is knocked for having other interests in life besides football.

I feel Jim Hermann our LB coach will work with him and make him a good cover LB.. serviceable after TC and Pre-season... but it is still a major liability.

I have nothing against Gholston, other than what has already been mentioned here. If the guy finds his love for football, the sky is really the limit for him. Now, if he continues to go all work out warrior and slips into the top 5, that means Long or Ellis falls to us. Either of them at 6 would be a steal.

Ditto that sentiment. If we go another way with pick 6, I feel very confident we can still pick up our sacker early in the second round. I'd love to have Ghoulston or Long, but Groves or Derrick Harvey are 1st rounders who might fall to us.

I have a feeling Groves isn't getting out of the 1st round. 4.52?!? I would love to trade down and get him towards the end of round 1. Otherwise, we'll need to trade up from our 2nd round pick to get him.
