How will you feel about all of this? I never expected the guy to be there at #6, but if he does wind up at #6 and Gholston and the Longs are gone...I don't see any alternatives other than trading.

What if we do take the guy? How would you feel about that? I think we would have a problem getting the ball to TJ, Leon AND DMC.

If we take him, we can't be upset. He'll be the first playmaker on this offense since Curtis left and he gives us a home run threat and by the '09 season he'll be our primary back. However I would not mind trading down to get a mid-late first rounder and second rounder. Take Groves or Merling in the first, then get our O-line needs in the second.

I'd rather trade down with the Cowboys and pick up Mendenhall and a DE or RT later in the 1st round.

Why is everyone against McFadden....Jones will be a broken down old man by the time we put together a team, while McFadden would be entering his prime.

With McFadden, we already know he's not a player Mangini would want on this team because of his off the field issues. The JETS would more than likely give the Cowboys and Jerry Jones the 6th pick if they want to give up their two first round picks for the Razorback. And if they don't then the JETS have got to draft Vernon Gholston with their pick. Looking at his combine numbers at 6'3 266 with 37 reps plus he ran a faster 40 than Chris Long. Come on people, we know the JETS need a versatile guys who can rush the passer and Gholston is right there at the top plus he can do it with his hands on the ground or standing up.

Honestly, I think if the Jets cannot trade down and the rest of the guys we would want are gone (Gholston, the Longs, maybe Ellis, maybe Ryan), we take Mendenhall over McFadden as the top back in the draft. Dorsey might drop with recent rumblings and he doesn't fit anyway.

McFadden is already in his prime.

Honestly, the only way I think twice is if Gholston or Jake Long is available but if McFadden falls to 6, they will both be gone.

If McFadden is availabe we will either trade down with Dallas or make the pick as I really can't see our front office passing on him (I am in favor of taking him however).

I'd be in favor of a trade. The Jets are more than one player away, and they can tout the #6's value as if it's the #1 in any other draft. If the Cowboys come calling, you might be able to notch a very nice cache of selections out of them. Those, I believe, would help the team more than McFadden by himself.

the more I read the more I think that we trade down as long as we can get Gholston and pick up a RB in the later rounds. RB's are very deep in this year's draft.

But, I wouldn't mind DMAC either...he'll be a playmaker, something we've lacked for years. And I'm really getting tired of this "mangini guy" characteristic we are using...first he hasn't done ANYTHING to warrant this title, win a SB then talk to me, cuz until then its really a "Belichick guy" characteristic...

I wouldn't touch Mcfadden. I do not think he's going to be a good every down NFL back. Remember you need a guy who can get the 4 or 5 tough yards between the tackles, not the 80 yard run outside the tackles. I think he will be much more like Bush then Maroney or Addai. When I look at his body his legs are tiny compared to other running backs. NFL linebackers are going to kill him.

If mcfadden falls to 6 you take him if hes the best player on the board. I dont think our biggest need is RB but you cant pass him up theres alot of upside

If in FA we actually nab Faneca and someone like Woody for RT, as well as getting Jenkins, I'm starting to think about reversing my view on McFadden. If we can open up some holes, he could be devestating. If Gholston is there though (looking less and less likely), I probably still go Gholston though.

If we still have an opening at OLB and Gholston's gone, I probably go McFadden in the first and Groves or Cliff Avril in the second. Hopefully we can get a pick for D-Rob as well in the 2nd or 3rd and can nab a RT or D-line/LB depth.
