Has us taking RB Darren McFadden #6 and RT Carl Nicks #36

    http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html

    Thoughts?

I like the 2nd round pick, but Darren McFadden is too much of a boom or bust prospect. Plus we dont need a RB!

Also, I know this is draft conversation, but this is the offseason people what else is their to talk about?

I would take McFadden, we need a guy who can be a game breaker, and he will be one.

The Jets should definitely take him if they can, and run a 2 headed monster with Jones.

I would like Nicks at 36 but like KatJ said, McFadden is a bad pick here. Dangerous player, yes, but so is Vernon Gholston, and we need a pass rusher WAY more than we need a HB.

I just don't see how we would ever be able to get Leon Washington involved in the offense...doesn't make any sense.

Sure about that? I just clicked it again to make sure and it has us taking DMC and Nicks.

That is true, but if they had all three they could think of something, especially if Chad gets back in and we need to dink and dunk.

All I know is The Vikings did not need a RB either, I bet they are glad they did not pass on Peterson.

The Jets do not have a guy that can really impact a game, and McFadden is going to be that guy.

I don't think they can afford to pass him up, but that does not mean they won't, this is the Jets.

Unless you think McFadden is going to be like Reggie Bush?

    Then I'd say no.

    My problem here is this.....

Run DMC is awesome, but this class has SO MANY solid RBs that you can get one in the later part of day 1 and still be fine..........While the O-Line talent and D-Line talent is pretty limited. So if you take McFadden, you must make sure your going heavy in FA and can get the right guys in the later parts of day 1.

    You make good points.

One thing we have to also keep in mind is...Kellen Clemens needs to be given the chance to succeed! If he has McFadden coming out of the backfield to take handoffs and catch passes...then maybe this is the guy for us after all.

Basically, if we draft McFadden, I think you will see a different Kellen Clemens.

I would love it, most important for this offseason is helping Clemens become the QB we need him to be. The way to do that is by improving the OL and getting him some playmakers.

Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Eric Dickerson, Emmit Smith and LT couldn't "break wind" running behind the Jets' current OL.

Like I said in a previous post...."why get a "9" (McFadden) when we have two seviceable "8's" in Jones and Washington."

The only reason I would want to take him is to keep him away from the Patriots. The Jets have too many other needs. RB should be the final piece of the puzzle.

The same things were said about Adrian Peterson with the Injuries and risk last year as well. There are six teams paying for not taking him right now! We have multiple picks to use this year plus Free agency. Can somebody tell me why we shouldn't draft the next Adrian Peterson if Mcfadden is the real deal? A second round defensive or offensive Tackle can't be found???????? Kerry Rhodes and David Harris were not drafted in the first round!!!!!!!!! We need playmakers on both sides of the ball!

How bout this for the Jets thinking...

If McFadden AND Gholston fall to us who do we take? If we don't take Gholston you know the Pats will and that might be the last thing Mangini wants. I also wasn't sure weather Nicks or Cherilus is considered a better prospect? I would rather have Nicks because of his experience with Callahan.

Here is my good point: Assuming we do something important to fix our offesive line in FA which I think will be the case; then having McFadden along with TJ and Leon opens up huge possiblities in the play action passing world.

Play action only works if a defense must respect your running game. Last year our respect was near zero. That is why no QB had any time to throw at all besides our line not being able to block anyone.

You could have plays that drop McFadden into the slot and keep TJ into block. McFadden's speed means he is a legitimate deep threat for us. If we can get another WR with similar characteristics, our passing game should proportionately improve.

I pray to god they pass on the baby daddy. He might be the 3rd best RB in the draft. I'd take the guy from Illinois over DMC.
