I would hate to see mcfadden fall to the pats and watch him run all over us every year. If he turns out to be a stud it would get rubbed in our face twice a year. Ugh
Not to worry, we can always trade them for Maroney and we're all happy. Except us. Cos Maroney's shit.
works for me. our offense was abysmal last year. a solid OT and a game breaker would be just fine by me. Ghoulston would also be fine, but McFadden does seem potentially rather special.
Actually, I rather have Ray Rice in the 2nd-3rd. Get me some OTs in free agency and around the draft, Gholston in the first, and either Rice or Kevin Smith. Fvck McFadden. I'm not sold on him anymore.
If we sign Faneca, sign a decent 3rd WR, and draft DMC, the sky is the limit for this offense. However we obviously have significant holes to fill on defense as well. NT and OLB remain huge needs for this team and while suring up the offense may be sexy we would have to consider trading down for more picks or taking Gholston in this scenario.
1. I don't think any of the top 6 regret their picks...those guys are all pretty damn good players. Most should have a longer shelf life than Peterson. 2. Most teams also have multiple picks and money to spend. 3. I agree with your BPA attitude completely. We need elite talent wherever it's possible to get it...
I hope he lands at us at pick 6... do we pick him? No. Do we trade the pick away to a team that wants to overvalue the #6 pick to draft a franchise RB? Hell Yes. If he ends up at pick 6 were either forced to pick him or trade the pick away, no way we let him go to the Patriots.
Fantastic post..and exactly what ive been preaching for 4 months now. DMAC adds a completely different dimension to our O...and in the given scenario is by far the BPA.
The Pats at #7 does throw an interesting twist to our draft thoughts; at least in the very first round. In a perfect world, the Pats would be picking at #63, but at least we got to see them choke the super bowl.
McFadden doesn't strike me as a good reciever. It's probably the fumbling thing...I just don't buy that his hands are as good as Mendenhall's or Stewart's.
If we draft Dmac then little Leon will be left out in the cold. Is he not our 3rd down scat back? If we draft Dmac do we look for possible suitors for Leon? When the saints drafted Bush they only had McCallister and when the Vikings drafted Peterson they only had CT. We have TJ and LW already.
I remember last year; I wasn't excited because the draft class was very shallow and we were in a bad spot. I didn't think we would accomplish much so I didn't watch day one. The next day I hear we traded up to #14 to land Revis - I was saying WTF. Then I hear we trade up to land Harris in the 2nd round - I was like Damn. Then I hear we pretty much gave up our entire draft portfolio to get these guys - I was like NFW. As it turns out Tannenbaum and Mangini made something out of nothing and no one predicted it or expected it. We did walk away with 2 quality starters. All in all I still think it was a great draft all things considered. Having another Schegle situation is something I don't want to see again. The bottom line is we can disect this draft all we want; Mangini and Tannenbaum are holding the trigger and even if we think their choices should be straight forward they could throw us some curve balls that we never saw coming.
Scarier thought, If Mcfadden falls to the Pats and he is as good as Peterson. Then we have Moss, Welker and the two headed monster at Rb of Maroney and Peterson to deal with. If Mcfadden is the real deal and the Pats take him it's checkmate as far as we are concerned.
Leon will still get plenty of utilization on this team and I only think he becomes better for us in the situations we would put him in. He is still a ST dynamo if nothing else, but he would get worked into our offense regularly - plus, he gives us escellent coverage if TJ or the potential DMC goes down with an injury.
So LT, Michael turner and Darren Sproles hasnt worked out for SD? How bout the pats when they had Marroney, Dillion, and Faulk?
True but isn't Turner leaving and Dillon gone and I gaurantee SD running game will not drop off much if at all and NE didn't either. Its a want in a sea of needs. Gholston would be the choice and I think NE may pass on Dmac anyway. They could trade down and get that CB the need later plus a pick.
