He's not garbage, he's been asked to play oput of position, and on top of that its a position which he is 30 pounds under weight. You would be garbage too.
Coleman has to start? Kenyon Coleman sucks, how many tackles did that loser have behind the line last season? The answer is 1.5. He sucks.
So your just gonna base the fact that Kenyon Coleman sucks based on his 1.5 tackles behind the LOS? First off stats dont mean too much but since you want to use them I will too. Kenyon was a very very good player for our D last year and was easily our best line player. He had 55 solo tackles which ranks 3rd on the team only behind Harris and Revis. 55 Solo tackles is very good for a DE especially in the 3-4. It means that you are doing your job of stopping the run. In comparison Ellis only had 32 Solo Tackles. Ellis was more of a pass rusher with his 5.0 Sacks compared to Coleman's 1.5 sacks. What you lack to understand is that, Coleman was signed to do exactly what he did. His job was to stop the run and play consistent he was never signed stickly for sacks. He was easily our best all around player on the D-Line last year . Adding Kris Jenkins as the NT will pay dividens on Coleman next year. Youth?
I agree with what you've been saying here, and... bawhahahaha @ your avatar. Even better than the Mccairens pic i found for you. i just saw the photo in your av for the first time on another site just the other day
Ultimately DRob will restructure if he's happy to stay around, pocketing himself a little extra cash into the bargain. If he's determined to leave and has permission to seek a trade it's in his interests to get something worked out. If he hits the open market people are going to be looking for a bargain.
Did you watch Kenyon Coleman play last season? When a DE makes a tackle 3-5 yards up the field thats not a good play. Coleman was one of our weak links on defense, week after week he would get run out of plays only to turn back around and make the tackle 4 yards later. I can't remember 1 play last season where we stopped the run behind the line of scrimmage(or stopped the run period). So for you to say that Coleman did his job by stopping the run you are out of your mind. Coleman was horrible last season alot of his solo tackles were because he couldnt hold his gap and the offensive linemen would run over or straight through him freeing him up to make a tackle 5 yards down the field. 1.5 tackles behind the line for a DE in the 3-4 is horrible, if hes stopping the run he's making tackles in the backfield. Am I wrong? Theres a reason why Coleman has never been a starter in the league until coming here. Whats his cap number this season? It cant be high, I doubt Tangini would keep him around if it is.
I think its funny that half of the posters on this site were upset we only got a 4th and 5th rounder for DROB- How many people wouldnt sign up for that same return right now, considering we may cut him and get nothing?
Let me get this straight................ "He did not hold his gap, the offensive lineman would run right over him or straight through him" and that would free him up to make a solo tackle? LOL I think you are the one that did not watch last year. He was not bad at all. In fact in the second half of last year the D-line markedly improved. Especially when they rotated. Sorry but your analysis is borderline ridiculous.
So you single out Kenyon Coleman? The defense as a whole was bad last year. Robertson couldnt eat up blocks, Ellis was average, and there was no pash rush from the LB's. The defense works as a whole and if your statement said the defense sucked early on I would agree with you. But to signle out Coleman when his job is not to rush the passer is ludicriss. If I recall a lot of those 3-5 yard tackles downfield were in Robertson/Ellis's gaps. By adding Jenkins and Pace, and putting Thomas back where he is best suited, can only help this kid more. I just feel you defend Robertson too easily and bash Coleman to easily. Your frustration shouldnt be on Coleman is should be on Robertson not becoming a NT. Coleman has been a solid player for the Jets. To say anything else is just flat out wrong. The Jets defense as a WHOLE was terrible the first 8 weeks. The last 8 was a different story where a lot of the newer players showed that they could work in the system. Rome wasnt built in a day. Youth?
