Every short white receiver reminds Jets fans of Wayne Chrebet.

Buzz: Jets - Broncos Talks ? Foxworth Not Involved

Tom Rock writes on his Newsday blog that he?s being told that should the Broncos trade for Dewayne, Domonique Foxworth would not be included in any deal, as he?s hands off.

Just heard from a source who said that while the Jets and Broncos are back at the table ? the deal does not include CB Domonique Foxworth . ? word is, however, that the trade could involve another Broncos player coming to the Jets instead of draft picks. Haven?t heard who, though.

So Shanahan was working on this deal, and would like it to happen. It?s hard to imagine who the Broncos would be giving up instead, but it ups the stakes if it?s not a player and a draft pick.

After a quick scan of the Denver depth chart ? here?s what I?m thinking ?

Backfield ? The Jets aren?t hard up for a running back now as there is a glut.
Quarterback ? Like the Jets are going to trade for Patrick Ramsey ? number -1 himself.
O-Line ? Matt Lepsis? retirement makes a trade here less likely and the amount of money the Jets just invested here makes you think they would be looking for a promising young Guard / Tackle. The only position that would make any sense to have battle in camp would be Right Guard.
Wideout ? Brandon Marshall is the tall physical receiver the Jets need, but I doubt they?d be willing to part with him after his explosive productivity last season.
Tight End ? The Jets are in the market, and Daniel Graham isn?t exactly wowing anyone out in Denver. Bonus! He was formerly a Patriot! That gives him instant cred!!!!! Right.
D-Line ? The only guy the Jets would really want, Marcus Thomas (4th round, 2007) is the player that they are trying to pair D-Rob with ?
Linebacker ? The Broncos are dropping linebackers like flies, so they would be very unlikely to deal what they have now. The prize of the unit would be DJ Williams, a guy who would be the last piece to make the Jets front seven go from joke to scary in three weeks. If there were talks about Williams, a first day pick would likely be going back to Denver.
Defensive Back ? If Foxworth isn?t involved, then the likely next target for the Jets would be Hamza Abdullah, a safety who is excellent in run support, but can get lost in coverage.

all speculation but is a good read

i am arms wide open for d.j williams or brandon marshall but i "highly" that those two are in the trade

I'd honestly would want picks because of salary but it would be awesome to dump D-rob, I'd only do it for Foxoworth or maybe out of a miracle Champ Bailey, which I am doubting

^ yea picks only for DRob... Denver has no one they are willing to part with straight up to make it a win win situation.. I'll take the depth draft picks.

I'd gladly take Cutler or Marshall.

You're doubting Denver would trade their best player on the team?

    Good guess...

Broncos angle for Jets' tackle Robertson
    By Mike Klis
    The Denver Post
Article Last Updated: 03/13/2008 02:09:08 PM MDT

Knowing their reconstructed defense has unfinished work at tackle, the Broncos are exploring a trade with the New York Jets for Dewayne Robertson, two NFL sources confirmed today.

In terms of need and fit, the Jets and Broncos would be an ideal match. Robertson is 317 pounds but extremely quick, a combination that made him the No. 4 pick in the 2003 draft.

However, he is best suited for the 4-3 scheme the Broncos use. The Jets switched two years ago to a 3-4. Robertson became expendable after the Jets recently acquired Kris Jenkins.

The Broncos badly need a defensive tackle of Robertson's ilk and they have extra draft picks in the fourth and fifth rounds they can deal in exchange for him.

There are two potential hang-ups, however. Naturally, money is the big issue. Robertson was the NFL's highest-paid defensive tackle last season and he's currently second after Oakland gave a new deal to Tommie Kelly.

Robertson is due a $3 million bonus on June 1, then a $9.5 million salary in 2008, so the Broncos would need to restructure his deal with agent Hadley Engelhard, who also represents Denver running back Travis Henry.

There also is concern about Robertson's right knee. A deal with the Cincinnati Bengals was nixed because Robertson didn't pass a physical.

I was not aware that Dewayne Robertson was the highest paid defensive tackle in the NFL last season. If I had been, I would have had an aneurysm much sooner.

    "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!"

How can any team who trades for him, hold him hostage??? What are they going to do, refuse to talk to him until he accepts his $3 million roster bonus and $8 million based pay? DRob hold ALL the cards here. :(

I honestly think at this point we are going to get nothing for him... and hes gonna end up getting released and will go wherever

Maybe the Bronco's will get the Jet's a Spalding NeverFlat and 50 bucks

I'm at the point where I'd accept a conditional draft pick next season for him. This way, if he plays well, we get a very good pick (2nd Round?) and if he doesn't, we get a low pick (6th or 7th round) and we still get him off our cap.

I think we have a better chance of wining the Lotto then getting rid of DRob. I’m always a non trusting kind of guy. I think this guy knew his knee was bad and kept it a secret. I know when I played I hurt my self and never said a word, so I could keep playing. I don’t think there will be any takers for this guy! Denver is good at selecting talent to match with their team philosophy and I don’t think that will change with respect to Drob!
