It's easy to get caught up with the 1st round busts but lets not forget the last two Super Bowls were won by QB's taken #1 overall...

I hope you aren't serious. Vikings, Bears, 49ers, Falcons, and Dolphins probably all have worst QB situations than the Jets right now. After the draft though their situations might change.

Jamarcus russell has alot of things going for him. LIke a running game to lean on(sixth in NFL) to take the pressure off of him. Assortment of weapons now. Like 6'3 215 Javon walker , 6'2 210 Ronald Curry and the burner 6'3 200 Drew carter. Not to mention two TES Zach Miller(Jamarcus Russell favorite target) and J Madsen. a Bevy of Rbs with various skills all complement each other.

Lets see Jamarcus Russell missed all of training camp and the preseason games . So obviously he was behind and rusty. Lets see what Russsell does with a full training camp behind him and some more weapons. Seriously would yo0u rather be banking your future on Jamarcus Russell or Kellen Clemens.

He held out for all of TC, after being the first overall pick and claiming he just wanted to get on the field and compete to help a team win asap. He was over-rated from the get0go, and probably shouldn't have been picked so high. He perfomed poorly when given the chance, and , as the leader of an offense, he showed that he is selfish by not being there with his teammates (all of whom have more NFL experience than him) during training camp where teams bond, all because he wanted more money.

I look at JaMarcus Russell and i immediately see a kid who doesn't want to work hard and thinks that his ability is more than adequate to lean on. If any of our players were ever reported to be overwieght, Mangini wouldn't let them play.

He is lazy, and in the NFL, laziness gets you nowhere. Al Davis is a genius.

Just keep a team that has had our number in the basement Al, your doing us a favor.

Al Davis is sick about the money he wasted on Russell which is one reason he's just another GM trying desperately to trade out of his draft position this year. The NFL is now into experiencing the "ME" generation in the draft and they hate it.

I wouldn't go so crazy about how much Russell weighs now. Didn't Lendale White "Castle" also 'baloon' up to like some 290-300lbs his rookie year? The Titans even brought in ol' ass Chris Brown last season, but White "Castle" won the starting position and went ahead to have a decent season with 1100+ yds.

Such a shame, Jeaux - you had a one-post streak going of making sense, and now you've ruined it. As unsettled as the Jets QB situation is, no one in their right mind would call it worse than that in Miami or Atlanta, and you could make legitimate arguments for plenty of other teams as well (Baltimore, Chicago, KC, SF, etc.). The fact is that Russell barely played last year and was godawful, so your views on him are just more of the ridiculous nonsense you have spewed all over this board for years. It's really remarkable - other than a momentary bout of sanity immediately after the Jets-Raiders game in 2006, you have NEVER been right EVER on anything you've said about the Raiders in years, yet you keep coming back with the same BS.

Ugh. So much wrong with this post.

First of all, two "L"s in balloon. ('Cause it's a "ball.")

White was overweight for mini-camps when he weighed in at 253 lbs. AND he's a bruiser back, not a quarterback.

The Titans didn't "bring in" Chris Brown last season. They drafted him five years ago. And I believe he's not "Ol' Ass," but in fact 26 and a very productive back.

White "Castle" is friggin' hysterical, though.

    Bingo bingo bingo.
    So he is:

    1) untruthful
    2) selfish
    3) disrespectful to his teammates
    4) lazy
    5) fat

Hold on to your seats, people! Here comes the next great field general!

I have a feeling Russell will play 2 1/2 years and then Andrew Walter will be brought back to camp.

    Stop Lying Jeaux.

Yeah, I figured I made some mistakes with my post. I knew he didn't literally baLLoon up to 300lbs, I was just saying he was overweight for his frame (according to what I heard during a game last season from one of the commentators).

I do believe however, that Chris Brown was released then brought back (mostly cause no one signed him, but the Titans didn't think White "Castle" would cut it). Then they wet on to draft Chris Henry in the 2nd round in hopes that he would be their starter.

Point being, that after he gained some weight, he lost it, and went ahead to have a productive season.

You clearly did not see Mario Williams play this year.

Russell is going to be the "Ryan Leaf" of the raiders. He has a strong arm, but is inconsistent with his throws. IMO, his status jumped because he was just so hard to tackle when he got out of the pocket.

Lest we forget, he had a couple of monster receivers (DeWayne Bowe for instance) to catch his passes.

I wasnt sold on him being the #1 Pick last year, and I am just not convinced that he is going to be a dependable weapon for any team.

Again, I didn't say he LITERALLY weighed 300lbs. I simply said a commentator stated that White "Castle" ballooned to some kinda of insane weight.

Personally, me, I laughed when they used the term "ballooned" on him. But again, the point being that he was 'overweight', then went ahead and...aww fuck this!

the least of the Raiders concerns is his weight. they should be more worried about his mechanics.

Brett Favre can make a living in the NFL throwing off his back foot like Russell did in college, but it isn't going to work in the NFL.
