These moves(Oline address, Franks, Richardson) has all the signs of Pennington being the starter...

Please Kellen, I hope you have improved mightily to win the job and KEEP it.

He better not be the starter... I hope that this is more directed at building a very strong running game, where Callahan is offering as much input as he can

Neither did I, I didn't even know Franks was available... I always liked Bubba and I real pumped that we have him I think he can provide real good depth and who knows maybe he'll break out again (he doesn't need to for this pick up to e a good one)

I think if our QB situation becomes more solidified and the all the off season moves work in our favor, we are gonna be quite a force.

I was gonna ask the same question. If he is a solid blocker, we might be going to the 2 tight end Offense to counter all the 3-4 Defenses that we are starting (N.E., Miami, etc) to see. Also, if that's the case, then our need for a WR is decreased dramatically because, with that type of Offense and a fullback (I Formation) on the field, all we need is 1 WR. If we go to the 1 back set, then it's 2 WR's. A power running game with a lot of play-action. Hmmm, sounds like it has potential.

Right now, IMO, we need a #2 corner and a Big WR......something I think we may address in Rd 1 & 2........DRC & Hardy are possibilities..........or trade down into the early teens and go after Malcom Kelly and Flowers in Rd 2.

Yes, yes, yes...big WR is top of the wish list...hope we don't try to plug that hole with TEs.

A TE can't be a WR, they have to drop 40 pounds as well as become .6 seconds faster.

maybe if we do a 5 TE set and they knock the weak CBs of the line and onto their asses, then they are wide open. TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!

Is it too much to ask for an athlete at TE at the back end of the draft now?

And then keep one of Tutt/Kowaeleuski/Pociask?

This guy is on the downside of his career and hasn't had an impact in years. Never did play at the level they expected of him. If he's healthy it gives us some depth. It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't make the team.

Signed Damien Woody, Alan Fancea, FB Tony Richardson and TE Bubba Franks... Talk about improving your running game, wow.

Yeah, I'd say we're prepared to run the ball alot. We're ready for McFadden if he's there.

What I can't seem to fathom here is, if you are write and your implication that Chad is so very bad, can't throw the long ball, floats those short out balls, can't run a lick to save himself -- why the hell would the NYJ CS annoint him the winner of the open competition with Kellen.

You don't seem to have any faith in the CS judgment when it comes to QB play...

What's wrong with CS? What's wrong with you?

I wouldn't go cutting Kowaleski or Pociask just yet, especially Kowalewski. This is a healthy young guy with a lot of motor that plays 125% every time he's in. And why would we want to draft a TE at the "back end of the draft?" We've got these guys in the system already with experience under their belts.

Franks is a good depth signing right up until the time he goes down, which can happen any time at all... probably before the season starts even.

I have to say that Kurt has been pounding the table on this all winter long... about filling needs through F/A so that we could go BPA at draft time. And I'll be damned if he didn't get his wish!

And how would we have known Tanny would take this about face after last year's ho-hum free agency period? My guess is, 4-12 was the huge wake-up call Tangini needed to get things going early this year. Kudos to them both and to Woody Johnson for ponying up!

I couldn't agree with you more about Kowaleski. A high motor player who gives us depth at two positions. And how awesome was it watching him score his TD against Washington this year. You could see how happy he was.

This is a "Mangini kid" and I don't mean that in the "intangibles" way, i.e., he's of good moral character, no off-field issues, etc.

I mean he's a "Mangini Guy" because he lives to get his one chance to go into the game and totally throw everything he has into it. You can see it on his face when he's on the sidelines... totally focused... it's like he's begging to go in, raise hell and give it 125% on any play he's called on. THAT's why he's on the team and these are the kind of guys who, if you have enough of them, win championships for you.

He threw a block for Jones last year to the right side that was awesome. Jones scored, and he went ballistic with Jones in the end zone after he knew he took out the defender and did his job. This kid is only going to get a lot better this year with a little bit of experience under his belt, mark my words.

No way do you cut him now.

Franks drops alot of passes and is hurt often but he can block well.

I still like Chris Baker over him though.
