Definately agree with steltz. I also like the jordy nelson pick. he is a workhorse.

we'd never pick a QB, with the first pick.what do you think that would say to clemens? might as well give him a gun with one bullet in the chamber.

I guess that is better than letting him start.

If we draft Ryan then we really have a QB problem it seems...

I don't like drafting him because it send that type of message

The only problem I have with that pick is that it would not be an immediate impact. He would sit on the bench until he gets his shot. The pick by itself is not a bad one. He is top ten material being overshadowed by DMC. I think they need QB depth. How many times in the past 5 years have they lost QB 1 & 2 in a short span? Enough to make you think. .

I would prefer a 1st year starter if avail. because I want to win now! I want sacks. I have no patience. j/k

Umm... Brees and Rivers? The Chargers were not ready to commit to Brees so they got Rivers. Brees turns around and has a career year. The Browns draft Quinn and now Anderson is getting paid like an elite QB.

Exactly, the only message we'd be sending is, "We're looking for a quality starter at QB". It's better than, "Here's the team...don't suck!"

If the NYJ FO / CS decide to take QB in the draft, I don't think they would pick Ryan, they might pick Flacco if he was available later on, but Not Andre Wolfson, and probably not Brohm either.

...not that I have anything other than a hunch for saying so...

The difference is they gave brees like 3 years to start before they gave up on him, and obvioulsy they gave up on him to soon. The browns drafted Quinn to be there starter, but while they were grooming quinn, they stuck lightning in a bottle with anderson.

These were two scenarios very different to ours. The moral of the story being, dont give up on qbs until you give them a THOROUGH EVALUATION.

Can you honestly say we gave KC one?

Yes, he'll get his chance in 2008. If he does well he gets 2009 and then we trade either him or Ryan. If he does poorly in 2008 he gets benched for 2009 in favor of Ryan, who has now had a full year in the sytem.

If he sucks in 2008 and we haven't drafted a potential solution, we're screwed, as a viable replacement wouldn't be starting until 2010.

Ryan at # 6 would be a disaster and won't happen. It would also say they think Clemens is a backup.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree with picking Ryan. I was very impressed with what he did at BC, despite the interceptions. He has mobility a great arm, and without Ryan, BC would not have had the year they did. I'm all about giving Clemens another shot, but if Ryan falls to us, it might be worth it to bring in some competition.

The idea of having insurance is a good one, just not if it's Matt Ryan. He's overrated. He can't get away with all that squeezing shit into coverage in the big leagues. You think he threw a lot of picks this year...?

I say the same thing about us to those who want McFadden after we just got Jones.

  16. Matt Ryan elite status is a creation of the media stemming from a extremely weak QB class... He is not elite and is no better of a propect than Clemens was

i don't know about this Flacco kid - frankly, I don't like his throwing motion. Looks like side-arm thrower to me. (Or maybe I am blind)

Flacco's arm is the real deal. I used to watch him practice at Pitt when he was playing behind Tyler Palko before he transfered. His throwing motion may be unorthodox but it gets the job done. Plus, at 6'7" he's tall enough to where getting knocked down at the line isn't a concern. Tthe biggest problem with him is his drop-back. He needs to work on his footwork and his exchanges. He basically has the same problems that Vince Young and Philip Rivers were criticised about.

I'd take Flacco. I'm just not sure we are done in the FA signings yet. That will determine what we do in the draft.

Still, I can't come to terms with that Flacco kid - if I had a choice, with all the QBs still on board, I'd select Brian Brohm instead.
