Draft Gholston...You can never have enough playmakers on the defensive side. See the 2007 New York GIANTS!!! END OF STORY...!!!!
What did you use as your handle when you called? I might have heard you....I often used to call the Afternoon Blitz but now I have to listen to Moving the CHains cuz they switched times
I use Jimmy from Kentucky- I was on the road coming back from Lexington listening to Late Hits with Gil and someone else and thought I would call in.. I listen to NFL Radio no less than 4 hours a day, more than that when I travel...Adam Shein loves the Jets and talks about them quite a bit. Pat Kirwin took a shot at them today though- a caller asked if the Jets have closed the gap with New England and Pat said Nope- it starts and ends with the QB position. They have the best QB in the league and we have 2 QB's that we can't even figure out who is better.... Sad part is he's right.
Well I think he is part right....but it doesn't start and end at QB...it is a matter of how many games we can win and how well we do against them, and if our D and running game are able to help us win more games and play closer against the Pats, then we have closed the gap. For Pat to say that he really seems like the football fan who only knows Peyton Manning, Tomy Brady, and Ladanian Tomlinson because they're big names and must be the most important players in the league.......QB is important but if we forfeited all our signings and had Tom Brady, I don't think we'd be wining the division...
Brady looked pretty ordinary after getting smacked around by the Giants in the SB. Any QB will look that way with pressure in his face all day. He isn't Superman
What I meant was that Pat is right about we don't know who our QB is... Teams can win without a superstar QB, see Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson..
We also saw Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp, ETC, Etc, Etc on their defense. Those were two of the greatest defenses of all time and the Ravens were only able to do it once. The reason they did not get back? No Qb in the last seven years!
Well frankly If I were a Ravens fan I would have gladly traded 7 years of stellar defensive play with no consistent QB to speak of for the super bowl ring they recieved. Hell I would take 4 straight 1-15 seasons starting in 2009 if we won the superbowl in 2008. It would be worth all of the misery to be able to say, that in my lifetime my team had one the big game. and for nealry all of us on this board Super Bowl 3 is purely history. hardly anyone on was alive, much less old enough to remember the game. It is time the J-E-T-S went back to the dance...
Sounds good in theory, I'm guessing it sucks in practice. As I'm a Cub and Jets fan, I wouldn't know. I'm still young enough to want long term success as well as short term success.
Kirwan has been killing the Jets lately, and he couldn't be more wrong. He compared the signings we made to ones he made. He covieniently left out the fact the guys he signed were toast. An ancient Ronnie Lott and Boomer? How are those guys anything like now? I also remember the Denver safety that was toast as well and a couple of busted up old lineman from the Giants. They took guys hopeing for 1 more good year. The guys the Jets took are in or close to their prime. As far as the QB goes, nobody knows what Klemens is yet, he has started 7 games with no o-line. If Chad starts the season he will get hurt by thew fourth game anyway.
Well I'm only 18 as it is. But It would be nice to see some consistent success. Even though I am relatively young, I have been a long-time Jets fan. I started as a fan in 1996. 1996 that year we went 1-15? yeah that year. Granted I wasnt exactly a die-hard fan. i became a fan because of a video game Techmo Super Bowl to be precise. i loved the bomb to Rob Moore, it was my bread and butter play. Scored every time I ran it. From then on, I was hooked. Jets fan for life, even in the face of 1-15.
My guess is the fact that the CS hasn't come out and name Clemens the starter, or for that matter endorse him in any way is some of the reasoning that Pat was using. Pat also mentioned a major difference between us and the Pats was the DL. He mentioned that the Pats use 1st rounders on DLineman and that's what separates the two teams as well. I agree with you on the bum signings, although he claims the only reason he brought Lott in was for leadership purposes...
its dmc or bust for us.if he fall to 6 then gholston and the longs are gone and dallas doesn't need to come up to 6 because if they want him they can wait till and try to moove to 8 cause the pats won't take him.personally i don't want him but after him theres no one worth a 6
You can also look at the Giants who won the SB with Phil Simms and I can't even remember who the other guy was now. Of course I would rate that defense as good as anything Baltimore or Tampa has ever had. Im would have to go back and look but I am sure there are plenty of winners who didn't have even close to the the best QB of the year leading them.
def want to trade out of #6 if mcfadden's on the board by our pick. rb is arguably the easiest positon to fill and i think jones and leon are going to light it up this season with a new line. faneca and woody will both be huge upgrades
