Sorry if this has already been posted, but if Matt Ryan is there at #6 I think we could fleece the ravens. I read that they want ryan BADLY and he might be there at 6--but since carolina also wants a QB we could play baltimore and carolina against each other and get rich--I bet the ravens would move their first round pick (#8) AND their second rounder just to get Ryan. Moving down 2 spots for another second rounder wouldn't be too bad. This scenario probably won't happen, but is an interesting possibility (No, I don't know who we'd then pick at 8 or if we'd trade down again).

If Gholston is there at 6, all bets are off.

If we could get a 2nd from them, it would be great, but I doubt they'll be desperate to move up 2 spots when there's 0% the Pats take Ryan.

They'd be willing if we asked them to hold on for a minute, Carolina is calling with a nice offer to move to 6, putting them 2 in front of them... especially if they covet him as much as it's being made out to seem.

However, I don't see it happening either

they would move up if we had them convinced we're trading #6 (i.e. Ryan) to Carolina unless they sweetened the pot. Carolina badly wants a franchise QB too and like I said play them against each other.

Why would the Ravens trade up? Unless they really believe the Jets would take Ryan, there's no reason to since we know the Pats don't need a QB.

If Ryan is there that means that Gholston probably won't be.

If Matt Ryan is availablel at #6, I do not think the Ravens will trade because it is very unlikely that NE will draft Ryan. He would fall to the Ravens. But, NE could trade down with somebody else at that point who wants Ryan, other than the Ravens, and then the Ravens would lose big time.

The Pats could trade down with Carolina if Matt is sitting there at 7 as well. The Ravens know this.

Why should these teams trade up for Ryan when they can get basically the same deal by trading to the bottom of the first or top of the second for Brohm, Henne or Flacco?

i know it would never happen but I really got to say this. If we put Keith rivers next to harris and get a DE in a later round. ITs mostly all over. Rivers is fucking sick and you could have him rush very well. It would be a scary defense.

Ummm I would most likely think that they have Ryan rated much higher than Flacco, Brohm and company... just a hunch

I think Brohm is prob the best QB in the top 5 my version of the top 5

    Brohm
    Henne
    Ryan
    Flacco
    Woodson

If Ryan was that good he would not make it past the Falcons or Chiefs. Just a Hunch.

I agree... but It seems the Ravens and the Panthers are the hottest for his services and covet him more than the Chiefs and Falcons, who have more holes than a block of swiss cheese. The Ravens and Panthers are not as full of holes, especially on thier offensive lines... so he is a better fit for those 2 organizations. And something tells me that next years QB class will be much better than this years, so you might see the Chiefs and Falcons address other more glaring needs in this years draft... just another hunch though.

Don't get me wrong If the trade is there I would try everything possible to make it if Dmac or Gholston were off the board. I just think we might not get equal Value from any other team besides the Cowboys. What are the Ravens and Panthers supposed to be offering. A flip of picks and a 2?

Well the way I see it... If one of them really want him that bad they have to pay to move up... and the chart is used as a guide, but this is where you can make up a little ground and get more than chart value. Perhaps a swap of 1's, a 2nd and a 3rd this year or the 2nd this year and next year... This is where it will pay to negotiate well. You also play them against one another to get more bang for the preverbial buck, and maybe come out with more than chart value.

I don't think there's any way Carolina trades up for Matt Ryan. After missing the playoffs the past two seasons (while having very high expectations), their GM and John Fox (him especially) probably have very shaky job security. If they are under pressure to "win or else" then trading a #1 and #2 for a rookie QB is career suicide.
